A quick update.

To remove chewing gum from carpet, you can use your hair dryer. Just heat the gum, being careful not to melt any carpet fibers. Then you can use a piece of plastic wrap or a plastic bag to lift the softened gum away. Allow it to stick to the plastic, and pull it up. This will often get most of the gum.
For the remaining chewing gum, apply Extra Strength Ben Gay, or another muscle rub containing methly salicylate. Use plastic or a rag to pull more gum out, repeating the process if necessary. Once you completely remove the chewing gum from the carpet, clean the spot with a mild detergent solution (a few drops of dishsoap in a cup of warm water). Rinse the area with warm water and dry quickly, first by blotting up any water, then with a fan, if you have one.0 -
I just tried white spirit for getting the remainder of chewing gum (after picking as much as posssible out first) from the carpet. It just dissolved the chewing gum away by rubbing in with a sponge. The carpet has an odour of white spirit, but i'm sure this will disappear by washing with some soap and water.0

To remove some well ground in chewing gum on my car mat, I sprayed it with "Vanish" Upholstery & Carpet cleaner. It began lifting instantly. Scrubbed a little with kitchen wash up brush, scraped with flat plastic end, repeat whole process and very impressed with the results. As good as new! (replaced washing up brush!!):money::j0

When gum is inside the fabric, ice cubes won't work. Try to guess what to use then?
Unleaded petrol or benzine ... safe, simple, smart :Acheers0 -
Ice cubed it but filthy gum firmly stuck to 80% wool carpet. Chip or dig away the excess with pointy kitchen skewer end or pointy bit of sharp knife. Vacuum up every bit. Buy some "Sticky Stuff Remover" from Ryness, test it somewhere if poss in less visible area of carpet (ok on mine). Apply liberally to gum area, blot excess, leave 5 mins and wipe away with damp, clean, undyed cloth. Brilliant, highly recommend. It also removed the remainder from bottom of bag that had transported wretched gum into house.0

My autistic dd stood in chewing gum.
She can't just get into the car, she climbs all over it, moving her booster seat about until she is happy.
Only when I was moving the car seat seat did I find hewing gum stuck to my seat
Are there any OS ways to remove it0
