Although you would have to use an extension lead, you could try brown paper to cover the chewing gum and then use iron over the top. Chewing gum then sticks to the brown paper!0

Hi, does anyone know how to remove chewing gum from carpet please? :eek:0

I'm not much of a cleaner, but have you tried ice cubes on it?0

Apply ice to the area then give it a sharp tap with a hammer the chewing gum will shatter and can then be hoovered up, repeat the process till all gum has been removed.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Thanks all. It has removed most of it. I am just concerned that the stubborn little bit that is left will attract dirt, and turn into a small black mark!
oh well..

I find white spirit excellent for cleaning carpets - I haven't had the chewing gum problem (yet!), but would recommend trying it.Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

Is it a small enough piece now to snip it off with a pair of scissors?May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Hi Andylad,
We have an older thread on the same subject with lots of suggestions so I'll merge your thread with it to keep all the replies together. Posts are listed in date order so you'll need to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

I would suggest placing a piece of brown paperover the chewing gum and iron over the brown paper- the gum then sticks to the paper. Voila!0
