I use those recycling boxes about 1 ft high by 2ft wide with manure in the bottom and the rest loose soil. I have carrots leeks spinach potatoes etc and they are growing twice as fast as those in the garden.0

what do you all do to keep yourself occupied while you wait for things to spring into life?
Weeding! and the long list of other jobs that I haven't done yet.Are there many veg that you put in one year and then they keep reappearing over and over?
fruit always good for that: rhubarb, raspberries,
herbs: chives, sage, thyme, rosemary,
veg: potatoes as some always get left behind, asparagus, and I wouldn't do JA again, tried all sorts of recipes and we don't like them, but I grew them as an edible screen between me and neighbour as they have nice little sunflowers on them.
There's probably loads more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.0 -
Just found this link online of veg that are perennials:
http://www.perennialveg.org.uk/
Also just read apparently you can eat Hosta leaves (sure there will be plenty of prottein too hiding under the leaves!!!)0 -
Went out today and got the grow bags for my tomatoes
got some pepper plants too because I think it's too late for my seeds. Courgettes seem to be germinating nicely though
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

"Which war?" - the war of the roses maybe! I`ve fought that one many a time.
Oh, the white rose for me please. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Looking to buy a pressure washer got a load of Nectar points thinking £80 should get me a descent one. Anyone got any recommendations?
I bought this one recently, but haven't had it out of the box yet so I don't know whether it's any good. Price is tough to beat though I think. There's one without the patio cleaner if you don't need that.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Nice couple of days away, but get back and it's cold and wet. About 10°C in the greenhouse. Hope the beans will be ok with the predicted 5°C tonight. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

MBE. Do you pinch the centre out of your peppers and let two main stems and side shoots grow? Never grown them before and read on the net that's the way you do it.0

If they don't split naturally I pinch out the growing tip probably when it's about 8"-10" tall maybe depends on how impatient I'm feeling
Be interested to know what others do as I've always done it.0
