why won't it stop raining? And why have my courgettes stopped growing?

    Rain due all week :(
and your courgettes know you're looking at them so they stopped:D or more likely, they're concentrating on putting down a good root system or, they're depressed just like us at the cold, wet weather again.
  • Technology!!!!! This thing has shut me out for a while. What am I doing wrong? Had to put my user name and pass-word in again - and could I remember what that was! Help please on the techy side of things.

MBE. Do you pinch the centre out of your peppers and let two main stems and side shoots grow? Never grown them before and read on the net that's the way you do it.

Nope. I don't do any pinching out - just let them get on with it. Seems to work ok for chillies, but this is the first year I've grown peppers, so I expect I'll find out in due course if I'm doing it wrong. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Did you tick the "remember me" box, or whatever it is?

Vics, did you harden off your tomatoes before shoving them out into the cold and wet, or are they still on your windowsill?

  • MBE Yes I think I clicked it but I can`t remember - do I have to put my user name and pass-word in every time I want to come into MSE? Sorry to be such a pain - didn`t realize posting on here would be so difficult!

Am I supposed to post in the box or on the blue tab? Or doesn`t it matter? I think I will stick to gardening I know more about that than computers!

You shouldn't have to log in with your user name and password if you tick the "remember me" box. Probably worth making a note of them somewhere just in case though.

If you're just writing a post then you can use the reply box, but if you want to reply specifically to something that someone else wrote then you click the blue quote button and then write underneath it. If you see what I mean?

Don't worry, we'll get you trained up. ;)

Haven't seen a weed dare show its face yet. That or they're disguising themselves amongst the tiny salad leaf seedlings, not sure I'd be able to tell the difference!
Just found this link online of veg that are perennials:

    http://www.perennialveg.org.uk/

Also just read apparently you can eat Hosta leaves (sure there will be plenty of prottein too hiding under the leaves!!!)

Thanks, nice link I'll take a read :) As for the add protein though... _pale_
Nice couple of days away, but get back and it's cold and wet. About 10°C in the greenhouse. Hope the beans will be ok with the predicted 5°C tonight. :(

Rained all night, rained all day, and generally feels grotty out. They're predicting lows of 7°C here tonight. Seems it's a bit rubbish all over at the moment.

Managed (with some collapsed attempts) put together a free-standing frame to hold a net over my strawberries before the birds start to get interested. Thought I'd construct it inside, because I didn't fancy doing it in the rain, only to find that my masterpiece was too wide to get out of the door :doh:What a muppet... Hoping that tomorrow is dry, because I want to put a low frame and net over half of the bed to stop further cat-destruction.

I have 4 squares with nothing in them at all yet, and not sure what put there. Had sort of planned to put onion sets in 2 of them, but seems like I'm a bit late for that now? Feels a little dull to put more lettuce/salad in, since I've already got 8 squares allocated to that.

My toms have been in and out more often that something that gets shaken all about, because every time I take them outside to pot them out, it rains so I have to come back in again.

Remind me again why I do this, and more importantly why this thread isn't called Help Little Vics Grow Some Things That Aren't Potatoes 2012??

I bought this one recently, but haven't had it out of the box yet so I don't know whether it's any good. Price is tough to beat though I think. There's one without the patio cleaner if you don't need that. ;)

thanks MBE I didn't know Nilfisk did a pressure washer, Nilfisk is a good old Danish brand so I suppose I should support my country men -perfect choice nice that it's 110 bar more than the £90 Karcher i was looking at.

Not done anything today other than golf and socialising no rain here though - yet.
