Help MBE grow his dinner 2012

The bog barrel is well on the way:
Although after getting this far I found that it leaks where the tap connector goes through the liner. The sealant I used wasn't suitable for being permanently wet. I've ordered some better stuff, and have emptied it again until it turns up and I can do a better job.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I had a bit of a, um, issue last year. I planted a heap of things, excluding spuds, but the ONLY thing that grew were the blasted things.
It was traumatic.0 -

MBE - I've been a tad busy but what's that barrel for exactly? I was presuming a pond type thing...If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

The bog tub is to complement the pond
speaking of which, how's the edging coming along?
Anyone checked netweather or theweatheroutlook for this weekend where you live? I'm in London and both say 2c to 4c at night
Now I know it's a way off yet but even if I double it it's still too cold and I can't fleece my whole garden! could you have a look please I'm hoping they've just made a mistake for my post code.0 -

A bog garden for carnivorous plants. Think sarracenia, darlingtonia, dionaea, pinguicula & drosera. I realise that this might seem a little at odds with the rest of the garden, as they are almost certain to eat my pollinators. I'm not quite sure how I resolve that issue. :undecided

Haven't done any edging yet, although I have taken the turf up round the edge of the pond, so I can recess the stone when it's cut.
I am also due a cold snap. I'm not going to panic yet, as I think those predicted temperatures will rise - mine have gone from 1°C to 2°C over the last couple of days, and I think that will improve as we get nearer the time.
I might fleece my toms, but the temperature's only going to be low for a couple of hours in the early morning, so most things are going to have to chance it. I'm sure everything will be fine.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Don't worry, It's unlikely to get that cold. I was hoping it was just a problem with my post code but it seems a cooler snap will happen.
Hopefully it will stay around 10c but should it get colder anything will do if you don't have fleece, newspaper, bubblewrap, old sheets etc but I hope most things will have hardened off enough to tough it out for a night or two.0 -
argh!! It's only May! I don't know how much more of this I can take.
Anyone know where I can get some cheap turf??0
