Lol, I remember asking the same thing yonks ago Drea. I was waiting impatiently for my first ever tomato seed to start sprouting and this wee wispy skinny thing poked it's head up.
After I posted a pic, lotus-eater told me it was a weed.
I was gutted. :rotfl:
Glad you got your butt picked up MBE.Herman - MP for all!0 -
A WEED?!?! How very dare it!! Don't encourage me to grow weeds :rotfl:
Definition of a weed is a plant growing in the wrong place. So that might be a very useful plant, but if it's in the wrong place, it's a weed.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Glad it isn't just me! The only thing I've done from a seed is the carrots... I'm too impatient for seeds I've discovered!mrbadexample wrote: »Definition of a weed is a plant growing in the wrong place. So that might be a very useful plant, but if it's in the wrong place, it's a weed.
Thanks, I would have thought it was a chilli plant forever more :rotfl:Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Jammy git. I hope you're not complaining.

Asked the manager to check other stores in the area - all sold out.
Had a look on the store locator...there's one in Sutton Coldfield. Well, they're all too posh for Aldi over there so I thought I'd check it out. Sure enough...
I bought 3. I've put one in already:
Well done :T My dad went and got me 2 today-he was at the Moxley store for it opening and said they had none. So he asked and the brought 2 pallets full out. Apparently there was him and 2 other men waiting for them when the store opened!
I'm going to attach one to the greenhouse and another to the house. That will be 6 water butts in total, hopefully help with the dry weather...which is expected when???
Not sure what gardening plans I will get through this weekend given the current weather forecast. Everything seems to be growing well though-definitely little toms on the early galina plants and also lots of flowers starting on the sweet peppers0 -

That's where I went first! None at Moxley, none at Bentley Bridge or Great Barr. At least the bloke at Moxley had a ring round for me.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Great to see some people are getting gardening related type activites done! I'm so over this rain, everytime I look up thinking would I get something done outside it's lashing out of the heavens and when I'm busy with the boys and look up, it's sunny for 10 mins.
I might have drowned some marigolds by putting them outside on Sunday and forgetting to take them out of their tray and then just forgetting about them altogether. They are slightly, okay, probably completely waterlogged. Managed to get some of them back inside but that's probably not good for them either.
I did get a bit of tidying on the raspberries at the weekend so they look a lot better now, have lost some of the crop for this year with all the upheaval in the garden but pruned back hard and confident that those ones will come back next year. I've got a big gap at the bottom end of the raspberries so have decided that is where I'll grow the squash this year and then once harvested, the new raspberry canes will go in for next year and then the following year I'll revamp the top half of the raspberries. That way I'll always have a few raspberriesThey do urgently need tying in though so definite job for this weekend if the rain stops for long enough!
My peppers are very very very verrrrrrrry slow growing, should I pot them on? Would it give them a bit of a spurt? They're still in their original pots..
I"m desperate to get outside and finish my raised beds but just can't make it out for long enough to make any impact. I just need to put a bit more compost in, cut back a tiny bit more of the neighbours trees and get sowing.0
