OH and I went into the local C&G branch this morning, and paid off our mortgage balance :j

I should feel elated, but it hasn't really sunk in yet! We did celebrate by going out for lunch though - OH is now sleeping his off :rotfl:

Not sure what will change (if anything), but it is a good feeling to know that whatever happens, if one of us is unable to work, if I lose my job (or I quit, which is a distinct possibility!), our home is all ours, and nobody can take it away.

Thanks to everyone on here for the chat and the support throughout this year, and wishing you all the very best of luck for your own mortgage free journeys x

Wonderful Dawn, well done to you both :T.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Hi Dawn
Welcome to the club. When it happened to me it was not a big incredible feeling moment - other than that knowledge that this is really mine! I can run back here any time I want and shut out the world and feel safe. But the thing that did make me feel differently was looking at the monthly expense plan and see it in pure black and white - living well is not going to be expensive !! So the small pensions from the umpteen careers I endured does me quite nicely and work is a distant memory.

    Live long and prosper!!

Eighth Anniversary Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Hi Dawn, I found your diary a few days ago and have been reading it in the evenings. Today I started from about page 16 and was so excited when I realised your signature had changed! So although you don't know me and I'm new to the boards, massive congratulations on your achievement. We've only just stated our own mortgage-free-mission and reading that you've completed yours is hugely inspiring. I hope you celebrate in style!
