Nice 4 days off - where did that time go?

Back to work today, and off on my travels.

Family coming for supper this evening (must find our how many ) but I have a big plastic tub of bolognese sauce made yesterday - hope it is enough!

Hopefully, just garlic bread to bake, pasta to cook and parmesan to grate and all should be ok.

Also cooked some plums for a crumble this morning - so will have to do some crumble mix as well. Won't take long in my Magimix :D

Right, better finish this cup of coffee and go and get dressed
  • Morning Dawn.

Good organisation skills on the bolognese! Hope you have a nice evening with family.

    Friday at last :j
I didn't actually start work this week till Wednesday :o but it feels as though it has been a really long week :(

As well as the actual work, of which there has been a lot, we have restructuring stuff going on  and it is being really badly managed, with the bosses treating it as some kind of game

Nobody is being made redundant at least (I would have jumped at the chance though tbh) but people's jobs are changing and nobody knows what they will be doing. I am tired to trying to explain the uncertainty / lack of continuity to external people in such a way that it doesn't make the organisation look bad. I feel a bit like one of the people / machines that makes up excuses for the trains always being late on the pa system at the station :rotfl:

Anyway, enough moaning - no work for the next couple of days :D

I have been paid, and the regular mortgage payment will have gone out today :)

Probably won't worry about OPs any more till we pay it off some time after the end of next month - so will focus on replacing savings that have been disappearing at an alarming rate over the last couple of months

No need to do a big shop this week, just odd bits as and when :D

We still have home grown French beans and courgettes, a few eggs a week, and some strawberries and loganberries. The tomatoes are starting to ripen at last as well, though I do see a huge batch of green tomato chutney coming on as the weather worsens

Must do some organising and planning this weekend :D

what do you do with french beans? (apart from eat them lol!) How to cook them? A neighbour has given me some home grown ones and I've never had them before!

Enjoy your work free weekend :)

Green tomato chutney makes good Christmas presents though! One of my rellies even returned the empty jar to me asking for a refill for next year! Unfortunately all our toms ripened the next year so they got picklelilly instead - no jar returned that year!

Just cut off the ends, cut into pieces or leave whole (up to you)and boil or steam them till tender. You can blanch and freeze them instead if you don't want to eat them now. They keep ok for a few days in the fridge though.

Basically, they are the same as the frozen green beans that you can buy in the supermarket, or the imported (expensive) fine green beans in the fresh veg aisle - ok, a bit fatter, but basically the same thing.

    They are very nice!
