Thanks all Work not so bad this week - but I am still looking Work not so bad this week - but I am still looking
Unfortunately I can't think of anything I could 'do' for a business of my own I write stuff, liaise with a lot of high powered (and other) people, spend quite a lot of money , do a bit of admin stuff and occasionally come up with great ideas (even if I say so myself I write stuff, liaise with a lot of high powered (and other) people, spend quite a lot of money , do a bit of admin stuff and occasionally come up with great ideas (even if I say so myself )for how something can be done, or done differently. Other than work - well, the roof has been done this week, so lots of money spent
Spent the morning at a local country fair thingy with OH, and late afternoon leaning out of the bathroom and small spare bedroom windows with a hosepipe washing off the skylight, extension roof and lean to roof, which was suprisingly effective. I didn't realise that having the roof done would be so messy
OH has swept the yard, and put the water butts back, and I moved some of the pots back (they had to be moved due to the scaffolding, which went this morning). There is still a lot of stuff in the garage though  And the front garden needs sorting too, though no extension there thank goodness. Have to do that another day.
Got the woodburner alight as it is chilly this evening
OH should be getting his pension lump sum on 25 October apparently, so hopefully the mortgage will be gone by the end of October
We will really need to get savings back on track though, as they have taken a lot of raiding lately, and OH's spending habit (expensive hobbies mainly) is still with us :eek:0

Hi Dawn, the name of your small business opportunity is 'consultancy'!
Finding clients who want to be told how to do things better is the biggest challenge - there are a huge number out there, but how do you find them?
You might want to browse http://www.pcg.org.uk/cms/index.php for some ideas, and the other option is to post a cv on some contracting sites and see if anyone contacts you.
You also need to become active on Linkedin in your area of expertise, and actively start building a network of contacts who might know someone who knows someone. It's not easy, but depending on what industries your experience lies in, it is doable.Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

Hmmm yes, I have done some consultancy in the past, but I am a bit of a jack of all trades master of none (as my Dad would have said)
Really early train this morning, and it was raining
Still, it is no longer Monday 0 0

This board gets busier and busier
Quick update - got paid, including a £600 bonus paid to all staff, presumably for putting up with all the s!!! we have had over the last few months. Better than nothing!
It was OH's 60th birthday yesterday, and we had nearly all the family round Needless to say I did far too much food, even for 12 hungry people  So, leftovers for supper tonight, and I have invited DD2 and her OH round again tomorrow to help tackle some of the excess puddings :T Blackberry cobbler, rhubarb, loganberry and strawberry crumble and clotted cream anyone? Still haven't made a decision about my job - I am in the process of applying for another one in the same organisation, but not sure if I want (or for that matter would get) it.0

Well you can deal with that matter if it's offered to you!

I do like your challenges! I have an annual gym membership, which due to discounts (im NHS, OH council and kids swimming lessons) if I go once a week it pays for itself. I aim for 4x and average 3 a week. So I think almost 3 weeks a month free.
Have just looked at my toiletries, way too much deodrant but do need to buy loo roll!Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!

The gym membership and the packed lunches are my personal challenges, the others are inspired by threads in various sections of the MSE fourm. A lot of people (MSE and friends) scoff when they hear I pay for a gym membership so I thought I'd keep a note of my attendance to prove to them (and myself) that I do more than make my money back. Now it's a challenge to 'make' more effectively free gym classes year upon year!
I'm pretty good with the basic stuff like shower gel, antiperspirant and shampoo etc. (I buy in bulk but only when it's needed) but I used to have a penchant for make-up and nail varnish treats. Since starting that challenge I haven't had any treats and my make-up bags are less bulging! I'm still working towards a sub-goal of zipping up my nail varnish bag though! The thread is good fun because so many people are doing the challenge and they post when they use items up saying whether they'd buy it again or not. The more I read "would not buy again" the more I stick with my trusted products and don't venture towards treats that invariably don't make you look like Kate Moss despite the promises on the packaging!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0
