Fabulous! Well done :jA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Finished marathon clean of all the downstairs hard floors

Carpet cleaners came, and did a good job - cleaned the stairs and landing (where a relative who stayed for a while last summer managed to spill chilli sauce - don't ask ) and the small spare bedroom where the dog weed and it left a stain
They also did the rug in front of the woodburner, which was understandably quite grubby as it is pale in colour, and charged less than £30 for the lot. This was great, as it would have cost that to buy the shampoo and hire a cleaner, and that would not have done such a good job as professional equipment and cleaning products.
Must ring C&G tomorrow - may not be an up to date balance, but I am too impatient to wait any longer
Also heard that the staffing issue that has been causing so much hassle at work has been resolved - just restructuring and doing 2 people's jobs to worry about now, but a breeze in comparison :eek:0 -
Just Phoned C&G, and updated signature :j
Mortgage balance is now sub-19k :T
And that, apparently, does not even take this month's regular payment into consideration 'as it was only paid in on the 1st August' :rotfl:
I am getting serious now - I have asked for a redemption statement to be sent (apparently this varies a little from the balance, due to the way the daily interest calculations work).
Right, off to make a Caribbean (sp?) vegetable curry for supper - I saw the recipe online and fancied making it. The recipe did not actually include courgettes, but needless to say, my version will :eek:0 -
The vegetable curry was great, and there is easily enough for (at least ) tomorrow
Might freeze some, as it would be good for lunch for work. I had a naan bread with it, as I couldn't be bothered to cook rice
I wouldn't normally cook anything like that, as it is a bit too 'veggie' for OH
We have a couple of meat and fish free nights per week, but I tend to do something based on cheese or eggs, which he is quite happy with. Still, I used up the remains of a jar of curry paste, some lurking carrots, left over potatoes, the scrapings from one of those jars of very lazy garlic, and of course a couple of courgettes
I think if I were on my own all the time I would stick to vegetarian food all the time. Meat is sooo expensive, and I do worry about the ethical / environmental aspects
As OH is a dedicated carnivore, I simply eat veggie when he is not here and when I eat out, and do a couple of the non meat meals that he does like every week, and try to stretch the meat that I do cook to go a long way. 0 -
Been raining on and off here, but fine atm

Decided to go shopping this morning - mainly charity shopping, but also popped in to the garden centre, to get some straw for the chickens' run and some more liquid feed for the tomatoes and other bits. Also succumbed to a(nother) lavender plant, some seed potatoes which are supposed to be planted now and be ready at Christmas, and a couple of reduced bits in the farm shop section. I was intrigued by the potatoes. Has anyone ever tried this? Not sure where I am going to put them
Anyway, not much spent for several hours 'shopping' :rotfl:
Really need to do a bit in the garden now, before it pours with rain again :eek:0
