My Italian in-laws just freeze them whole and use them in soups in the winter. They don't seem to bother blanching them.Borrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

I grate them and freeze them (for courgette and tomato soup, adding to bolognese sauce/ lasagne or adding to chilli) I also chunk a few and freeze them and add to chilli. I often griddle rounds or long strips of them and serve them with meat or (if just me ) couscous and chutneyI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200

Hi Dawn,
Congratulations from me too!!
I've been with DH for over 20 years now since we were 19. I just hope we're still going in another 20, although now we're working together...........

Thanks for all the congratulations
we have been very low key about it really, as we have never made much fuss about anniversaries (sometimes completely forgotten :rotfl:) but it IS a long time, isn't it
Thanks also for all the fabulous courgette ideas. I will make something courgette related for supper I think - but hard to choose.... Still, I cut another two today, so I am sure I will get to try all of them by the time they are finished
Went out for lunch with an old friend today, which was lovely, as we had rather lost touch
That is twice in a row though, and it is DGS2's birthday at the weekend, so a fair bit of spending
Little bit of shopping - washing up liquid, meusli, dishwasher tablets, a couple of other bits.
Transferred £1000 to the Halifax account to get the reward - I think I will have to transfer some of it back again when OH gets back though  I hope he doesn't spend too much this month
Right, off to cut another bunch of sweet peas which is lovely, but I currently have them all over the house as they need to be cut most days, and do something courgette-linked for my supper
The regular mortgage payment went out today, so I must ring C&G in a day or two to get a new balance. I think we might be sub-19k this month

Why not ring the changes? Stick the courgettes in a vase and eat the sweet peasRight, off to cut another bunch of sweet peas which is lovely, but I currently have them all over the house as they need to be cut most days, and do something courgette-linked for my supper
. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

There's a lovely recipe for Marinated Courgette Salad on the BBCG00dF00d site. I made it recently for some friends and they loved it.

Morning :j
Still on my cleaning mission - I have the lounge to do today. It is quite big and has lots of furniture to move
Carpet cleaners also coming today
On the money side, the Amex card statement has arrived, so I shall pay that off. The savings spreadsheet needs to be updated for August as well. Won't be able to get a mortgage balance following August's regular payment till next week though, as C&G seem to need such a long time to get their act together. I don't know why they can't move into the internet age (for non LTSB banking customers)
Cheated a bit on the courgette front yesterday - I simply shaved off some courgette 'ribbons' into my salad (did I mention I also have tonnes of salad leaves?) and had houmous and toast with it - and caesar dressing, which sounds frankly odd, but I love it!
Houmous gone now, so special offer smoked salmon tonight
I might also make a quiche, as the eggs are piling up as well. The chickens are laying less than before, but I still seem to get at least one egg a day (from my 3 chickens).
More courgettes and sweet peas  And a few more loganberries ready.
A couple of french beans ready to pick - that will make a change :rotfl:
It is amazing how much food you can get from a tiny garden! That is besides the sweet peas :rotfl:and the roses, honeysuckle, petunias and marigolds!
Could do with a nice warm sunny day to sit out there for a while though. It has been mostly dull and intermittently pouring down with rain all week

Good Morning :j
Glad to hear that you are enjoying the HG veggies, fruits and flowers. Due to the vagaries of the weather, ours hasn't done as well as I had hoped. On top of that, some of the youngsters around here have vandalised my apple and pear trees, plucking all the fruit.
If you have a smartphone, you could install the foursquare app and get some free money out of your spending at Prim@rk, H0use of Fr@ser, Tesc0 and a few more eateries with your Amex card.
