Amber necklace for teething baby

I have been talking to some of my mum friends about our teething babies. One of them suggested trying amber as a natural remedy. Has anyone had any experience of this and if so can they recomend any outlets to buy. I have googled it and looked on ebay and amazon but not sure who I can trust.

Thanks

  • I have no experience of amber necklaces but when my 2 were small I brought a bead necklace (rubbery plastic stuff) from Sainsbury's in the baby aisle which worked a treat!

One of my friends uses them and says they work. Personally, I am sceptical and would only recommend Baby Anbesol teething gel for teething kids. However, we (my friend and I) could both be right so, if it interests you, then I believe this is one of the shops she has used: http://www.dinodaisy.co.uk/

    Xmas Saver!
My daughter has severe reflux which was made worse by teething so I invested in an amber anklet (better with how sick she was than a necklace) from dinodaisy. We had a butterscotch amber one as apparently the lighter amber is better for teething.

Well she now has quite a mouth full of teeth and we have only had that and used bonjela gel occasionally and she has been fine. Her elder sister when she was teething had explosive nappies and nights of screaming and that was only using the powders and calpol and we haven't had any of that with her sister so I'm sure the anklet did something.

My husband was sceptical but when the anklet got broken at grandma's he was more than keen for me to order her a replacement, a necklace this time as she isn't sick anymore! I don't know how it works, I was sceptical with it, but it seems to have helped or maybe she just hasn't suffered as much as her sister did.

    I hope this helps.
:j Is MSE saving me money, or making me spend more on all the bargains?!:j

I have most chemist remedies and he knows what is happening when either the calpol comes out or I have anbesol on my fingertip.

I will still use the traditional options but thought this was worth a look at.
I will take a look at the website

    thanks

The nappies are quite something else, and grouchy restless behaviour, its worth a try, thanks, when he is older afterwards I can always wear the amber.

I have used them with 2 out of 3 of my children (didn't know about them with my first), now I am very aware that it could be coincidence but my 2 boys have had no trouble with their teeth, and I am not going to take my youngest's off to see if he does experience an increase in pain without it :)

how stupid am I - I was thinking you meant to give it to them to bite on as it would be nice and cold and I was thinking oh god surely they might choke!

A lot of people think that! So many people saw my sons and asked how he chewed on it!

He now wears one that has hazel wood and amber beads as the hazel wood is supposed to help with eczema (or however you spell that!)

OP - don't buy off eBay as there are a lot of fakes out there. There is a away of telling the difference but I am afraid I don't know it :rotfl:

I don't know if it makes any difference to the nappies because my friend practices EC from birth. It certainly doesn't seem to affect the kids' temperaments. However, there is no actual downside bar the modest expense so it's definitely worth a try if you need another option. Good luck with the teething et al.
