Bad presentation of property on internet

The EA sent emailed me the particulars of my property and asked me whether I approved them. Sole Agents. The presentation was appalling, and have not seen such a horrible thing ever in ads. The floorplan is crap, wrong and faulty! The description is absolutely missing. The photo is disgusting: blurred, chopped as if the person was taking the pic whilst they had an accident, the houses tilting like an earthquake hit them, the road slanting, as if the neighborhood was sinking down in the earth like the titanic - not a joke. I have never seen such unprofessional presentation - not suppose I am alone. I asked the EA not to publish yet, but they went ahead and did so. I emailed them I was disappointed and so, they withdrew the pics. They asked me what could they do. I said I it was their problem and job. The bad presentation definitely damages the image and price of vic property. They do badly usually with other properties. They do not seem to be able to do better, and wonder if the property could show with just the minimum pictorials and without floor plans. Yeah.. about the inside which is huge space,... they said they did not have the wide lenses and could not take pics.

I'd really skip over properties that cannot be bothered to be marketed properly. I like good photos and a floorplan otherwise it just gets my mind wandering what is wrong with it if they are not showing all the detail.
Perhaps just go with a different agent and get them to do it properly?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Important things first...links?

If their other property adverts are poor, why did you pick them?
just refuse to approve the listing, stipulate what needs correcting, and if they cannot do it within x timeframe, then time to find a more reputable EA.0 -
I agree. If you are going to cancel any contract, always give an opportunity to put things right first. OP have you taken screen prints of the unacceptable presentation? If you have, then keep these safe.If their other property adverts are poor, why did you pick them?

The agent we're using doesn't take the photos, but sends out a professional, with the wide angle lens, who also prepares a floor plan.
Hence, our house to be honest, looks rather better in photos that I feel it does in reality
This was one reason that helped us to choose the agent, along with a reasonable rather than pie in the sky valuation.
We also had chance to approve the brochure before publishing, and the mistake on the floor plan was corrected0 -
My pet hate is EAs using a wide angle lens to take internal photos, total distortion of rooms and misrepresentation of what is actually there. Anyway that's by the by, with regard to the OP, why not take your own photos? After all, you know how good your house looks from every angle so you're best place to take the best photos. That's what I did when we had our last house on the Market 3 years ago. The pix looked much better than the ones the EA took originally.0

Of course. I asked the EA to put things right, but they said "what is wrong with the presentation?" The skills are poor, the camera's distortion is so bad that must be an elementary one...If their other property adverts are poor, why did you pick them?
I had not known this, until after, normally one expects reasonable skill and care.DVardysShadow wrote: »I agree. I do not intent to cancel, it is a fuss and risk, I asked them to deal, but they have not. My son says we give them a chance."I'll be back."0 -
Oh, I do believe you, I think few EA s use professional photographers. They cost. But I have seen the difference in presentation. A good photographer can make any property a place you want to view whatever the price, some incorporate the surroundings or know which time of day to take them; some focus on original details.Welsh_Totster wrote: »The pix looked much better than the ones the EA took originally.
WHat is horror is that 5 vic houses in the neighbourhood have row of finials and the photo cropped half of them and the rest look like broken teeth."I'll be back."0 -

So... why not hire your own professional and give the photos to the EA?0 -
Thanks all

selling is fuss and risk...vetting EAs is aboslutely critical, tbh never had one who did not represent their brochure quality before hand....give them one chance, but then take on a bit of fuss and risk and sort it out for someone who can do the job to the standard you expect0
