Well after my shopping and stocking up yesterday, Ive spent the last 4 hours making 18 meals to put in my freezer.. This means Im not gonna need to keep popping out for shopping all the time :T

Im feeling very pleased with myself. DH decided to wait until 4pm today to tell me there's not enough formula to get DS2 through tonight and nappies were looking low-so I dashed out to MrT.

I bought a jumbo box of 66 nappies for DS2 (£11) and 2 carry packs totalling 65 for DD (£10). Also bought 3 tubs of growing up milk (7.46 each) for DS2.Added milk and a bottle of coke (my little vice) for £1.98-I know, but if Id bought more I would just finish it because it was there. Total was £48. I had two Pampers vouchers for £2 off so that made my nappies come to £17 making them 12p per nappy. I also had a till spit for £5 off a £40 spend so I "allocated" that to the formula, taking it down to 17.47,or £5.80 per box.

I didnt add the nappies to Polkadot Palace because it comes from DS2's purse (still waiting for DD to be registered to give her a budget so her brother is subsidising her;))

I decided to pay the difference to the shop so I transferred £1.69 to second purse, and will do the same over the next few weeks when I need the other two boxes. Im going to only pay the difference for now, until Ive built up a bit more-just to avoid feeling pressurised.

So so far Ive spent £33.95 on m stock, which is worth £40.56-gives me a profit of £6.61 and my purse total is back past the £10 mark again (will pay in another £10 on Tuesday.)

While I was at Mr T-DH processed those two beef joints I bought yesterday and says he was able to get about 10 meals from it (we count 1 meal as supper for the whole family + pack lunch for DH...add the rest of the meat I bought makes about 20 meals with meat-and that all came with the rest of the stuff I bought yesterday to just under £110-£50 less than a two week grocery budget:jThe £50 will stay where it is for now and if its still there at the end of the month,it'll go to savings/snowball.

Wow! that's so organised :T! I don't think I'll ever be that good - probably just as well as I wouldn't have room in my freezer :rotfl:.
    Pay debt in 2012 #278 £2347/£5364

  • Totted up the total stock value of the Loft Shop - a bit easier for me because it's all in 1 place - was astounded to find that it will yield over £480!!! I did have an awful lot of stock before I started the challenge and I have spent a lot this month (every time I've seen a 1/2 price or less offer on something we use). Know I'm going to have to curb this compulsion soon. Will stick to only spending what's in the second purse in Feb, but I'm going to put £10 in every week.
  • Thats a great start, thats £480 going in your 2nd Purse. If you spend it on half price or B1G1Fs you could double that :)

Its impossible to stop doing this once you start, you can slow up, take a wee break, but never stop.
As you get into it you will find you can walk past things you have a good stock of, and only go for the things that are running low.

At some point you may get a bit annoyed at Mr SM when it hits you just how much you have been giving them.

Some weeks I only have perishables in my trolley. And then I challenge myself to see how little I can spend.
The good thing about setting a limit to your float in the 2nd Purse is you shouldn't ever need any more than that in it a £100 for me is a fortune. I can make that go a long way.
Remember you don't need to spend it once it hits the 3rd Purse, I only spend it if I need something.

Everyone is doing so well, I'm amazed at the pace of this thread, and all the lovely peeps that are participating in the challenge.
It gives a whole new meaning to "If you cant beat them join them", the SM's I mean, after all we are all giving them a run for their money LOL.

I bet you feel 1,000,000 times better now :) That's 3/4 of the months food done. Does anyone know where to get some cheapo chinese takeaway containers from? I want to start batch cooking my lunch/dinner for when I change jobs. I might get back really late, or not work in an office with a microwave, so batch cooking will stop me getting take out, but no idea where to get them cheap.
