no worries, does anyone know when the mince offer finishes as thats what I want to order :o

I PMd my details to dreamerbea last night so as soon as I get the email from DR I'll have a look and budget in a small order. I'm sure I could stretch to some mince or something and then order some more stuff when I get paid :)

HelenPie, I hope you feel a little brighter today (((hug))) Let us know how the doctor's went!

I forgot to tell you a funny story. A few days ago at work a colleague was crying at her desk so I offered her a tissue. Except I'm too tight to buy tissue, I have a loo roll instead :o Anyway her tears immediately turned into laughter. When I asked her why she said she'd just visualised me climbing my 90-roll tower of Ann Drex to pluck a roll of it down for her. Maybe you just had to be there, but I was glad it cheered her up anyway.

Thanks. I was just popping in to give an update actually....

Been to Dr, and now off for thyroid function tests (I know these are fine though - had them checked alonog with blood sugars not long ago...)

Anyway, ultimately she says it's stress and that I should consider making changes in my work life. Easier said than done when there are bills to pay, but hey-ho. Also suggested that I take up a hobby outside of work...again with little knowledge of the fact that I physically can't do that because I'm too blooming tired. Gave up having a life many years ago....

Anyway, sometimes it's good just to get it off your chest. The problem with NHS GP appointments is that you never really have enough time to talk. I may go to my old private GP for a chat. Not cheap at £95 but that's for a full 30 minutes...

Off to Asd@ now to hunt out that cat food offer and see what else they have to offer (not local so should make the most of it! :D)

    Thanks for listening everyone :A

Maybe you could do something crafty?

I do cardmaking as my outside work hobby and love it as I find it really relaxing and when I'm too tired to think of pretty layouts for my cards I sit in front of the telly and colour :D

Have a look at my homepage if you like as my cards are mostly there. My early cards are on the oldest posts, so (hopefully) it shows how far you can take the hobby in not a lot of time. It's not cheap though - you soon find that every new craft item is an "essential"!

I started it when I was ill a couple of years ago to try and destress - I knew I needed an operation and would be off work with minimal ability to leave the house so picked up a magazine and the rest is history!

Tomorrow I'm off to Ald! with a £5 off £30 spend voucher which I'm going to use to finish stocking the cupboards :D

Polka dot is that the co$tco at lakeside you go to then? I used to have to do that tunnel/bridge 3-4 times a week a year or so ago as i live in essex and my uni was in new cross! nightmare! I was thinking of joining that co$tco- i think it's my nearest. But wasn't sure if it would be worth it. It takes me around 50-60 mins to get to lakeside so it's usually a special trip occassion!

Yes it is Lakeside.Im allowed to take one "helper with me,although only i may purchase...if you wanted to look around you'd be welcome to join me one day;)It really is worth it.

I went and registered at B00kers today as a friend had said they had more range and were cheaper than C0stc0-but she was wrong in my opinion. The ony thing worth picking up was ladies things and sweeties. Having said that though-THEY HAD CHOCOLATE BUTTONS TO BEAT THE SM:jWell okay, they were chocolate mice but i paid 2.99 for 1.2kg's.I have little baby food pots so Ill split them up into pots of 70g as thats how much is in the SM bag-then if I charge 40p per 70g pot,I'll make a profit of £3.40 plus I'll be doing my bit for the environment as we wont have all those little baggies to chuck-and those litte square buckets they come in will come in handy to store my cake decorating kit (so more money saved on tuppers etc)

Im confused how would start challange.

started feb gc last week 15th

spent £92waitrose online-mostly offers multibuys as 3 for 2 household and got small stockpile cleaning products.

brought some double velvet on offer in co-op£2.80 for 9-hopefully last us the month.

stockpiled on crips accidentally as daughter had party and only half turned up and hubby brought few crisp deals.

spent £50 between co-op and spar mostly whoopsies.

hubby spent £56 lidls wed and we now have stockpile of 20cartons of passatta as down to 29p carton thinking should get 40more.

we really do shop around to keep costs down,
we look for as many reduced or on offer products as posisble.

    started using quidco last year.
want to start couponing once printers fixed.

so how do you set a number for purse 2?
now sure if 10 or 20be enough?
    which purse for whoopsies?
take it non offer stuff comes from purse 1 -grocery challange money
moneys only transfereed from purse 1 2 if its reduced or on offere ie saving made so save the difference?
how do I estimate value of current stockpile?

have large chest freezer with mostly whoopsies.
    cupboards reasonably full.
    large fridge rarly full.

Do i have to keep spreadsheets?i have an i phone struggle to use flipping thing wheres this budget planner from?

does anyone write record every single purchase?

we have had varying sucess with grocery challange not for lack of trying we getting much more frugal just supermarkets keep increasing items even value stuff huge hikes.
so thinking stoickpiling everyday staples too like tomatoes, passatta ect.

sometimes look on grabbot or see sdales but never have the spare cash to buy so that would be good aim.

Hi gailey - welcome to Second Pursing! :D

I think we all do it slightly differently, and there really isnt a right or wrong - it's just whatever suits you best.

For example I dont do spreadsheets, others love them!

I just make a note in a little notebook of what I take out of Sallys Stores and therefore owe the SP.

You dont need to work out the value of your shop, although I am sure it would be interesting to do so - I would like to but not enough hours in the day :rotfl:

Put whatever amount you like in your SP for bargains (can be whoopies, reductions, bogofs etc).

I have put £10 a month in for Jan and Feb but do more or less if you want.

Then when you take something out of your stores, you pay the SP for it - instead of popping out to the supermarket and paying them.

    One of my examples:-

I buy 3 x Magnums for £1.49 but when I eat one, I pay SP £1 for each one.

That gives me £3.00 in SP and I now have enough money to buy TWO boxes next tme they are on offer and reduced to £1.49.

Its up to you what you decide to pay your SP (and for ME, it depends if I have any cash in my 1st purse ;))......some people pay the whole proper cost of the product (maximum profit for your 2nd purse), some people just put the profit into their SP.....

I tend to do different things at different times!

Hope that helps a bit, I am sure other people will give you other ideas and explanatins :j

  • Hi Gailey

It is up to you really how you start. I just started by 'selling' stuff I already had stockpiled back to myself at full price, then 'reinvesting' my money in more offers. If you don't have enough cash spare to charge yourself full price you could just charge yourself the most you would be willing to pay for that item or the amount you normally pay, but obviously then your kitty grows more slowly.
