I don't claim to understand it all, but I was wondering if say European Nationals can come here and claim benefits can we do the same? Go to France or Poland say and claim benefits, and if not because of those countries finances/benefit systems why not, is it not very one sided, are we the only country that allows this and is it down to the EU?0

..
But it was clearly stated in the Nu Labour manifesto!
(on page 591)
(in microfiche)
(in white ink on white paper)
It really annoys me when these parties come in on 30% of the people vote and implement things they never really campaigned on.
I don't remember being asked if I wanted Britain to become a mini version of the UN?
I don't remember being asked if we should pay for billions of capital projects on PFI credit, just because it 'looks cheaper' on paper.
We really do need a tick box on the ballot paper which says in effect "I think you're all a bunch of w*nkers". They wouldn't put it on though, it'd be far too popular.
Economic migrants should be transient, coming here to do a job, and then going back when the job is no longer there. That is migrants from anywhere, going anywhere.0 -

That is a conspiracy.
Do you have a link? I thought this would have been widely reported.0 -

If in the EU then a UK national can claim benefits on the same basis as a national of the country you move to.
That said many of these countries tend to have much stricter rules for their own nationals i.e. some you have to have paid tax into that system for a specific time. Plus the benefits may not be quite as generous as the UKs
They also do not make it easy if you do not speak the language of that country.
So the answer to your question is a qualified yes."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

i don't know why there is not a 10 year ban on getting any benefit at all - including education. this way genuine people or those with jobs will be the only ones coming.0

unless you meant, they should be contributing in return for their benefits - in which case I agree.
but better they don't get any.
yeah i meant contributing, we are on the same page
doesn't have to be much, 1 day a week helping out in the public sector somewhere will benefit them and everyone else0
