Loving Aldi's Peri Peri smoked mackerel fillets. Eating them more as on SW they are free or very low syns. Weight Watchers they were 12 points for a fillet! You could have a 10oz steak for the same points.

I think that says a lot about 'so-called' Diet Plans. how can one be free on one plan and 12 points on another?
no wonder people pile the weight back on as soon as they come off a 'Diet Plan'!

but - the smoked mackerel fillets are bluddy lovely!
  • Aldi Harvest Morn Hot Oat Cereal is no different to the brand ready brek although I do find it hard to believe they encourage you to "add sugar to taste". Especially since it claims to be "great for kids".

    There are several varieties:

    - Black box: these are fine I think, but a visitor commented that they are too weak
    - Gold box: I find these too strong (and I like strong tea!)
    - Red box: on super-duper offer this weekend. I bought 12 boxes of 80 so should last a year at least! Not yet tried them but I think they will be comparable to Sainsbo's Red Label, ie just right.

Well I tried the red box first and like the tea very much, so thanks for that. I will look out for when they are on special and stock up.

I've not shopped in Aldi since before Xmas and this month I'm trying use up freezer stores and pick up fresh supplies in my local Co-op but I'm having withdrawal symptoms lol

I even contemplated placing an order with muscle meat earlier but on closer inspection they can't compare to Aldi on price for almost all their products.

I just hope some of the products I bought before Xmas will still be available and weren't just seasonal, e.g. the mini dauphinois potatoes, whole crab, scallops etc.

Local Lidl just added fruit scones to their bakery range, I must have just caught fresh out of oven stock, delicious and more than average fruit content ..29p each.
Also 2 new breads with topping on, one had pepperoni and tomato the other not sure.

Lidl bakery bread is hit and miss, need to brown the top a bit more for my liking get that wet texture dried out.

  • I love Aldi's Granola.
It is very good value for money as you get 1kg instead of part of a kilo & it is cheaper.
It is also healthier than a lot of other Granola's.
I did a taste test of the brand that I was buying, Tesco's own, Sainsbury's own and Aldi's. Aldi's granola was far and away the tastiest.
So it's a win win win from 3 points of view.
  • I love Aldi tinned sardines in tomato pur!e, it's 35p
