    1. What are the lidl's own tea bags (knightsbridge) like, the normal ones (like PG/Tetley) are they good tasting and quality? Have never checked these out before.

    There are several varieties:

    - Black box: these are fine I think, but a visitor commented that they are too weak
    - Gold box: I find these too strong (and I like strong tea!)
    - Red box: on super-duper offer this weekend. I bought 12 boxes of 80 so should last a year at least! Not yet tried them but I think they will be comparable to Sainsbo's Red Label, ie just right.

non-groceries : got a pair of wellies in the Lidl sales (giant boxes full of reduced specials) for £ 3 and they are very comfy, are looking like Hunters and are not made in China (that is important to me) but in Italy!

I just tried Aldi Soya milk, as good as any other and 49p a litre.

IIRC it's 59p/litre (sold beside the other long-life milk products).

Thanks for that rundown, I'll start with the red box and see how that goes.

I know Christmas stuff is as good as gone now but my Italian friend gave me Aldi Pannetone to try and we both agreed that it is heavenly. She bought 10 of them, lol! I did buy Lidl's as there was a coupon in their in-store flyer in december and it's bigger than Aldi's. Hope I remember until next year ;)

It can usually be found in the 99p Shop around March time (although the size seems to be shrinking at an alarming rate).

I had one of the Aldi Specially Selected Panettone in my trolley before Xmas and bumped into an Italian lady I know. She had 8 of the same in her trolley! She says they are far better than any you can buy in Italy and she buys the Aldi SS ones every year as gifts for her Italian friends who live here! Yes they are indeed heavenly, as are the Specially Selected Stollen! I can highly recommend both!

You may have met my friend :rotfl:

I doubt that the poundshop ones are from the same supplier as Aldi's, VfM4meplse, but I'll probably try one for 99p if I see one just in case ;)

Most Aldi plastic product packaging seems to have no triangle at all, which per that guide you linked, means it's not recyclble at all and is the type of platic that gums up recycling systems and causes even more waste/pollution. Aldi's policies re recycling may be legal but are not very ethical.

Bought the spring onions and aubergine today. Both in plastic wrappers. Don't see the others do this. The others have a cardboard tag on the SO and a sticker on the aubergine. Any reason why Aldi do this? Doesn't increase shelf life.
