Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

This year I have thus far been a lot more disciplined - how long will that last I wonder?:D
PS. My rule is no such goodies may be eaten after Boxing Day as Christmas is then over. Unless its RTC, in which case filling your face is perfectly acceptable!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Whoops! Managed to spend £150 in Aldi today yet crammed it all into one of the mini trolleys. Let's just say I was a Champion Teris player :rotfl:
The checkout staff also applauded me on my expert skills in packing a trolley, especially when I checked out faster with over 100 products than the guy on the next till with just a dozen or so :T
I also let two people with baskets go ahead of me whilst I was loading up the conveyer belt. Result all ways0 -

:T from me. £150 in Aldi is impressive, but in a small trolley it's incredible.
I have the large ones every time as they are more comfortable to lean on, and I need to do that. Well done on letting other people in front of you. I always do this as much as possible, as I hate to hold people up, I know I am slower than I used to be because of my arthritis, and it gives me more time to load up onto the conveyor belt too.
I got taught how to read the Aldi produce labels for dates - the world's most patient checkout assistant was explaining it to the very demanding lady in front of me who wanted reassurance that her perfect looking produce was not over date.
Look for the week of the year number which at the moment will be 47, The following number will be the numbered day of the week on which the produce goes off sale. So 4703 was Wednesday this week.
If you ask me, Aldi should be applauded for this system as it cuts down on waste - no more perfect produce languishing in waste bins a la Waitrose, Tesco or Sainsbury.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Just bought the Aldi 3d effect mascara for £2.99 and very impressed. Actually makes my eyes look bigger .(feel free to move this post if should be somewhere else)

Oooh is that a special? I'll look out for it on Friday.Palindr0mic wrote: »As I only recently started living near an Aldi, is their Stollen good? I've been meaning to buy one but I don't know whether to grab it from Sainsbury or try Aldi.
It makes sense that a traditional German speciality from a German supermarket would be good. My DH likes the stollen bites too.0 -

Yes, even I was surprised as I usually spend around £100 but then I had a few bottles of wine plus some bits for Xmas that I couldn't resist which bumped up the bill. I know how quickly these things sell out! As long as I don't eat them beforehand :rotfl:
I did cast an eye on some of the produce codes as I was picking stuff. I remember seeing 4705 but rather puzzling, I think I saw a 4708 so how does that work in a 7 day week? lol
I'll check the fridge later and report back0 -

Lidl's is very sweet and shrunk in size so I will try Aldi's this year (must get one today before they run out!)

Not had these for ages, but I saw them in someone else's trolley...
Aldi Flapjack bites (loads for 99p - I think they may be cheaper than they used to be)0
