Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

It's not often I have a trolleys worth but when I do i clear the goods straight into it, pay instantly and then package up away from the till.
Some couples , the wife does everything and then keeps the queue waiting packaging properly and opens up purse etc.
The man is just a carthorse0 -
I always check my receipt before i start packing my stuff, i've had a couple of things go through twice but they're really quick at sorting it out. They always give the money back in cash rather than crediting your card.
I love Aldi, there's always something interesting to buy. Bought their Balsamic Vinegar Salad Dressing recently, it's really good.0 -
On the couple of occasions when I've been charged for a completely random article, it was explained to me that when they go through the till so fast, the barcode numbers from 2 items run together and make a completely new item. So it really is important to check.
I did notice that when I returned the day after this happened, that till was out of use and being fixed, so it could've just been one of those things.
I do remember when the cashiers used to have to remember the prices for absolutely everything in the days before bar codes. Nightmare!!!
Hope you haven't been and bought up all that fudge while I've been out at work today.0 -
I remember that,i thought it bizarre memorising every item in the shop.0

Before baskets arrived I used to put the goods into my own bag then empty it out onto the counter and repack once paid. I've seen plenty of other people do that too which is possibly why, at last, they brought in their own baskets.
I just so hope they don't turn into a clone of all the other supermarkets.0 -
LIDL:
BAD: Their own brand cream of mushroom soup, 42p I believe, completely rank
GOOD: Xmas nibbles especially the Camembert moneybags & Duck Spring Rolls, own brand sparkling water0 -

I'd be worried they thought I was shoplifting  In Lidl though I've previously used one of those cardboard trays from the tins or something to carry bits and pieces.0 -
Terrible fudge with cranberries - please don't buy it, I beg you - so that a great big pile of it is left so I can fill a trolley on Jan 2nd (the day I give up the diet)

tbh I was up for being stopped for shoplifting - I was ready with my speech about why don't they have baskets. Sadly I never got a chance to say my bit and now they have baskets.
They can't say anything anyway, until you have walked out with the stuff without paying so you can use what you like to carry it round in, as long as you pay for it all.
Disappointment at Aldi today was their brie and cranberry in breadcrumbs frozen thingies. I grilled them and all the brie and cranberry ran out. leaving a crunchy outer shell. Scraping the grill pan was very yummy however, but I was testing them out ready for guests and can't really offer them the pan and a sharp knife!0
