The jobcentre allows employers to place their own ads on the jobcentre site. You need to find out who the person is at the jobcentre who takes these complaints.Don't take no for an answer from the jobcentre-you will need to speak to someone in authority.

I have been reading all of these posts about Craftmatic after recieving mail from them, i am so annoyed at the moment.

I have recieved regular mail that i get from Gala Bingo, this time the envelope was not sealed and inside there is one of these prize draw offers for a bed. From looking at research on the net it seems as soon as someone gives them their details they are not just entered into a draw but are also hounded by Craftmatic to buy a bed from them for £1000's.

My initial thought was that Craftmatic had put these in without Gala's knowledge. Concerned that a lot of elderly people play bingo (so will have also recieved this mail today, as i suspect it goes out to all members of the club) i called Gala to make them aware of it and see if it was meant to be in with their mail.

I found that yes, it was supposed to be in there as Gala work with 3rd party companies (probably gaining income for help advertising them)

I am so annoyed at the thought that Craftmatic have just got their little trick out to 1000's of elderly people that will think its genuine and are more likely to send their details off as it looks like its linked to Gala Bingo (a company they think they can trust)

I just wish i could contact all the people who have recieved it and draw their attention to what they could possibly be getting themselves into if they reply to this offer.

Thats my rant over now, thanks for reading, please if you know anyone that has recieved this offer - tell them not to send any details off!

Insolvency Service, you have a personal message from me.

Sadly, most of the victims of this company are 70 plus years of age (they find their targets by looking on the electoral register for those ineligible for jury duty, ie. 70 plus). They are therefore unlikely to be checking up about them on the web.

I am sure if you contacted West Yorkshire Trading Standards they would provide a substantial list of elderly customers who have paid thousands for a mattress worth c£150, if that. Obviously you could also contact the lengthy list of creditors of Powermatic and QOL.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Depending on how angry you feel, you can always start a lobby against Gala to cease promoting Craftmatic inthis way.

Perhaps contacting BBC watchdog (who are no stragners to these bed companies and their sales techniques) may even encourge them to do the job for you?

You've only got to google "craftmatic complaints" to see the kind of havoc they leave in their wake.

Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."

Craftmatic know who their target audience is - I would guess that bingo players tend to be older and mainly female. All these 'free draw' things are just ways of getting your address and phone number so they can harrass you into a visit and them pressure-sell their product.

I would like to see much more stringent regulation of companies whose products are aimed at the elderly and disabled. Unfortunately, our law-makers are so busy with their hands in the till they have little interest in protecting the vulnerable.

hi i am a newbie i have been reading all the comments on adjustable beds & thanks to this forum i was saved at nick of time by a crafty craftamatic salesman, who was in my house for 5 hours, wouldn't leave starting price £2,990, down to £1,900 but amazingly kept talking to his manager who felt so sorry for me that he offered to give me a double for just a grand & willing to accept a deposit of just £10. when i said i don't have the money, the salesman amazed me by saying he will pay it out of his own pocket because he feels sorry for me, i kep saying to him i don't have that kind of money & i need to think, so i phoned my carer who told me to get some one from your family to get rid of him & thanks to my brother i finally got rid of him .but even his parting shot was it's for your benefit, by this time i was so fed up, just turned around & said to him nothing comes for free in this world & no one feels sorry for a stranger unless there is a motive behind it, plus i prefer empathy & understanding & can't stand those who offer me sympathy, because they don't know how i feel, inorder for them to feel sorry for me. he just tuttered & left in a huff.....
saying that i had some genuine sales man who came in demostarated there bed & left in half an hour after leaving me with a quote & phone number & never bothered me again.
now i have reasonable quotes from the following companies:better life healthcare, there quote £1,190approx coolmax adjustable bed which is just over grand approx, care & comfort £1,090, uk mobility4u £1,600, oakdale adjustable beds a double bed with massage for £1,800. cool max adjustable bed £1,300 approx all these quotes are with massage unit, headboard & side drawers.
as i suffer from spinal disorder & the normal bed is causing me so much discomfort, that i hardly get any sleep & in the morning i feel so stiff & be in so much agony that getting out of bed is near to impossible.
but reading all these comments i am a bit wary who to choose.
out of all these quotes i am really keen on coolmax or care & comfort, but can't make my mind up as yet. but to be honest i liked all of these companies approach to the point & direct, except oakdale who have since reduced there price from £2,800 to £1,800 but the sales man did not bother me infact i called him to find out how much deposit they would like, as this salesman brought the actual bed with him to demostarte & i really liked the style & comfort of there bed, but one major drawback was no side drawers whilst the one i am thinking of have the drawers,
so yes i had just one crafty sales man & a few hassle freee half an hour visits.
i have also recently had a sales man from relief healthcare who offered me a bed & a free reclinig chair for £2549.00, again a nice sales man who left the end decision to me & never hassled me again. but my main worry is the money, i am in urgent need but thinking where to get financial assistance?
so if you guys have further information on the above mentioned companies, please be kind of to share it with me, as your experience might be different to mine with them.
any one who wants to send me personal mail please feel free to do so thanks sajji

What size did you say you were after? Those quotes still seem a little high.

Coolmax is actually just the fabric. It is designed to take moisture away from your body to stop you feeling clammy. There are now far better versions available like Climasmart and Outlast.

Shop around on line with normal bed sellers rather than those who specialise in adjustable beds.

I am pleased to hear that this thread has once again been helpful. I am still getting pm's from people who have googled and found this thread.

I agree with Tim, though, Sajji. Do you actually need an adjustable bed - that is, one that goes up and down or massages/vibrates? Are you sure that you just don't need a really good orthopedic mattress - in which case you would be better going to normal bed sellers and tryting them out in the shop. How much better is a £1000 bed going to be than say, a £2-400 good quality mattress?

You could post on the 'I Wanna..' forum and ask for mattress/bed recommendations.

hi cheers tim & spuds for your suggestions which is a grate help, coming to your question i intially wanted the mattress. but due to my condition my gp reccomended adjusyable bed, as the position i sleep on normal bed is aggrivataing the pain more & with this bed i can adjust to the position i feel more comfortable in & the massage will reduce the stiffness in my neck & back. so i really do need the bed & the worse thing is i have to rely on online stores.as i live in small town & travelling out is impossible, because my mobility is grately affected by this condition. spuds where will i find the i wanna forum please let me know thanx
