Well, there is a strange thing. There was a post in December from 'Insolvency Service' claiming to be the government Insolvency Service investigating Powermatic and QOL and asking people to contact them by pm.
I did this and have received no reply. Anyone else get a response?
I am looking into this and will let you know the outcome.
It looks like their posts have also been removed.
I suspect they have been booted off MSE due to their name as it appeared to be offering a service.0 -
Thats the lowest, slimiest, most pathetic statement I think I have ever read in my life, a feeble excuse for getting "caught out" I bet you dont have the bottle to say that to their faces do you., a bit too energetic for you to handle, and thats without the bed.
Well said marleyboy. I'm ex-furniture industry (commercial) and when one of these companies visited my aunt I was there to challenge them and asked them what evidence they had that their products reduced pain. I know from working for a manufacturer that spent hundreds and thousands if not millions on getting their products tested and up to the highest ergonomic standards that the bed manufacturer's evidence for this was at best flimsy.
If they are going to make such claims they should back it up with reports from both ergonomists and the medical profession. In addition those reports should relate to specific conditions as one solution won't always be practical for every medical issue.
FWIW I'm not after anyone's inheritance either..Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I need to post this at the end to bump the thread:
QOL and Powermatic are now under investigation by the Insolvency Service. Any customers or employees are urged to contact:
Ruth Hasling
Investigations Directorate
The Insolvency Service
PO Box 203
21 Bloomsbury Street
London
WC1B 3QW
Tel: 020 7637 6315
Fax: 020 7291 6810
Ruth.Hasling@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk
I have spoken at length to Inspector Hasling and can confirm that all information will be treated in confidence.0 -
Excellent news - so pleased to hear that you stopped the cheque. The 'yellow copy' is a contract. They will tick the box which suggests that you were not 'cold called' and therefore have no rights to cancel. This is not true any longer - you can cancel, the law has changed.
Please contact West Yorks Trading Standards to make them aware of your dealings with this company:
info@wyjs.org.uk
I would be grateful if you could email Inspector Ruth Hasling at the Insolvency Service with brief details of what happened and the name of the salesman and anyone else you dealt with:
ruth.hasling@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk
This company are the same as Powermatic and QOL who are being investigated. I am sure she would be interested in the salesman's name and having a look at his tax records if he worked for the previous companies.
edit: edited fror spelling; thanks Hollydays0 -
spuds-did you mean to say "trick"?!! Or was it a freudian slip?!0
-
I did mean "tick", but there are no accidents they say, so I guess it was a freudian slip!0

BTW here's their job advert with contact details which can be found through Job Centre Plus :

Did your partner get a pay-slip or anything that stated how long he had worked? Were there any deductions, like National insurance?
It is illegal not to pay the minimum wage. It is illegal for an employer not to pay NI contributions. You can make an on-line complaint to HM Revenue and Customs using a form found here:
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/nmw/complaint.htm
There is also a phone line you can ring to inform HM Revenue that they are not paying the minimum wage:
0845 600 0678 (9 - 5pm)
If he applied for the job through the Job Centre or other government/council office he should inform them too. Thanks for posting. It's always good to let others know of your experiences with these companies.
Anyone reading this thread who has had dealings with Powermatic/[TEXT DELETED BY ABUSE TEAM FOLLOWING COMPLAINT]/More Than Mobility (or Puresleep in Wales, though not related)- please register and post. Let's make sure as many people as possible know what these people are like.0
