The director is Lance Isherwood. The company have a very poor web site, which according to WHOIS hasn't been updated since 2007. He seems to be on Facebook too.
Mr Ripoff - why don't you start a new thread with Puresleep beds in the title, giving more details of your experience. That way it will come up fairly high on a google search (this thread appears halfway down the search page). It is always useful to let as many people know about these companies as possible.0 -

But it was interesting to see some of the dodgy and unethical tactics used to sell beds to very vulnerable people. This included warning that the customer might have to go into a care-home if they don't buy the bed and thus improve their health, and the use of random, meaningless medical terms. It also showed that the salesmen "buy" the bed off head-office for about £800 and are then free to charge wherever they like for it . This can sometimes run into thousands of pounds. The salesman and the company then split the profit 50/50 . Not very nice people.0

My Unison Trade Union magazine arrived today and when I opened up the package, out fell a leaflet from Craftmatic saying I have 12 chances to win a free adjustable bed. I have a sneaky feeling that if I am ever daft enough to enter this "competition" I shall be plagued by salesmen from this company trying to sell me one of their over-priced products.
I am disappointed that Unison are associating themselves (albeit indirectly) with a company that has a reputation of hard-selling very expensive beds which can be bought in shops at a much lower price than Craftmatic charge. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Well, Craftmatic are a longstanding company - unlike Powermatic/More Than Mobility who are, in my opinion, the same people closing and reopening under different names to avoid creditors and bad publicity.
However, Craftmatic have been featured on the likes of Watchdog several times for their hard-sell, high pressure tactics. Whenever salesmen are on high commission there will be pressured selling and it's really about time the government strengthened consumer laws to address this problem, especially when those targetted are elderly and often vulnerable.
Powermatic have had their advertising banned from Saga magazine, I understand, so they now approach elderly people in shopping centres asking if they want a free demonstration - which turns into a high-pressure several hour long sales pitch, in my view.
It may be worthwhile you emailing your union magazine and asking them to reconsider accepting advertising from Craftmatic in view of the fact that they have a fairly poor reputation too.0 -

I have emailed the editor of the magazine giving them information about Craftmatic, and asking them to reconsider putting that company's leaflet in their magazine. I don't suppose I will hear anything till at least Tuesday because of the weekend and the Bank Holiday. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
I personally know 3 of the people who were involved with these bed sales in Leeds. I will do some digging tomorrow and make some calls to see if I can uncover any relevant new information. I only came across this form and thread after Googling one of their names out of curiosity.0

Thank everyone on his forum who drew my attention to Pure sleep in Crosshands.
They contacted my elderly parents last Wednesday and advised her that they were part of the NHS and that Andrew Brown would be calling on Friday regarding my fathers arthritis and look at his bed - I advised my mum to be careful and ask for proof of identity before he was let into the house - She didnt do as i requested.
The first i new of them purchasing a bed was Sunday afternonn for the sum of £2800, £100 cheque deposit although the sales guy had strongly requested cash and finance agreement over a period of 24months with no set amount payable on each month and no record of the bank details on the finance agreement. The finance agreement from Clode funding cardiff did not set out a cancellation timescale only stated a short period of time.
My mind started racing as soon as i came home and i am so glad that i found this website, i cancelled the cheque at 11.30 on sunday night and i am fortunate as believe it or not i work on the same industrial estate as pure sleep.
i called the office at around 9.30 this morning and when i turned up at around 10.30 my parents cheque was waiting for me to collect. Unknown to me they had called my mum this morning and she had informed that i would be calling. when i asked the guy who answered the reception i handed him a cancellation letter and asked for my copy to be signed confirming receipt at that he closed the hatch and went to get the MD. If i hadnt known differently i would have said that he looked a pretty trustworthy type of guy (wolf in sheeps clothing)
Also sent the letters to the finance company and puresleep by recorded delivery in this evenings post.
I feel sorry for the elderly and vulnerable that havent got close relatives that coan look after them from these idiots.
And yes how do they get the numbers as i registered my parents telephone number with trading standards to cancel out the nuisance calls. i contacted trading standards and they are also going to find out why they were called even though they are on this list.
THANK YOU SO MUCH xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxTim_Deegan wrote: »They may have something to hide, but they are a limited company, so I found all this info from companies house:

Hi, Jordan I wish -I am so glad you got a good result and have received a refund. You did exactly the right thing - acting as promptly as possible, cancelling the cheque, cancelling in writing. I hope you will make a formal complaint to Trading Standards though - especially about claiming to be 'NHS' and the lack of finance details as that sounds like a serious breach of the law, in my opinion. The more complaints, the more likely TS are to act.
The phone numbers may well be taken from the electoral roll - it is possible to identify those over 70 because they are listed as not eligible for jury service. These are the ones targetted by these type of companies. Unfortunately, many elderly people do not have someone to take up these matters on their behalf.
Isn't MSE great? So many people have posted and pm'ed me now saying that they have had refunds or cancelled appointments simply because they have seen this thread. Specialist beds for the elderly/arthritic are availble in specialist shops - go to a shop so you can see what you will get and can look in your own time without pressure. As far as I know none of the companies mentioned on here have a showroom where you can browse at leisure - what does it tell you about their product that they have to come to your home to sell it to you?
If you want to buy a bed go to a shop or ask someone to research the company on the web first, at the very least - I would strongly advise that MSE'ers don't allow these people into your families homes and spread the word to others.0
