And of course when the inevitable crash happens it will be all down to us men and to "bad publicity". I am afraid there will be lots of heartache and broken friendships because of this. Perhaps will could all look on this as a tax on stupidity and greed. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Apparently a number of the pyramid groups in the WISE scheme that's been running in Bath and Bristol are now being re-branded as G and T, G&T (Give and Take). I guess because they're getting to well known under the WISE banner.0

I love it at 1:02 when the reporter says "you can't just make more money out of your own money".Happy chappy0 -
On the one hand I feel sorry for these women, but on the other hand I am glad that they are going to learn a very hard lesson when the scheme collapses. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Just an update on this thread. The Gambling Act 2005 states that from the start of this month "anyone inviting another to join a chain gift scheme or knowingly promoting one is committing a criminal offence". Let's hope that this law puts an end to these schemes.
After doing some more research on WISE it appears that some people who should know better (ie magistrates and lawyers) have been active participants in WISE, as these two news stories show :-

I like the quote from Ms Fairbrass :-
"The people who knock it are misguided and misinformed. There will only be losers if the whole thing stops - if the whole thing continues they can't possibly lose as there are always new friends who come along and join."
But where are you going to get all those millions of women to sign up, you stupid woman ?What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

I'm not sure how she has the nerve to call anyone misinformed when you can't beat the maths. No matter how many people join the scheme you will ALWAYS have 88% of the people losing out. And as you point out, if you ONLY had 2 people joining for every person you can never reach 33 generations before you run out of people in the world. And of course normally these schemes work on recruiting more than 2 people each so it can only theoretically survive even less generations. Even with a world population you still have 88% losing out money to the top 12%. Which is probably no different than the normal capitalism wealth divide anyway."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes, because we are men we "don't know how the scheme works". That's why they target women. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

offence. Is it too much to ask that the police are not ignorant of the law themselves? Other excuses such as 'not a priority' or 'not enough resources' are also not acceptable. The police need to learn that 'selective policing' is not only unacceptable, but is also not lawful.
I wish I could say I was surprised, I really could but sadly this attitude form the Police doesn't surprise me. I have tried to report a mugging and attempted mugging on myself and the police just didn't want to know. Even once when the mugger threatened to stab me but didn't actually draw the knife, the police said no crime had been committed as I had not actually seen a knife (what a lot of BS!) The result is I wouldn't bother wasting my time reporting a crime to the police as they just won't care.
No wonder certain areas of crime seem to be dropping, people probably just don't bother reporting it.! Anyway sorry for hijacking this thread vent over.If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0
