I might have to give them a call in the morning. I signed up just before the offer and my line went active on 5th Jan. I did think about Primus but moved with PO as they seemed a safer bet until I decide whether or not to take the plunge with Primus. This may help in getting this offer.

Gave them a call this morning and asked about the £50 offer and they said that since I had only just missed out on the offer they would accept me for it. My 2nd quarterly bill will now be credited with £50......RESULT!! :D

    Thanks somersethillbilly!!

Phoned 0845 600 3210 > Option 1 > Option 4. I just said I wanted to leave unless they could match the offer for new customers, they rolled over straight away and said sure no problem. £25 credit will be on my next quarterly bill and a further £25 credit on the quarter after that.....

According to their website, the offer is for new customers taking both landline and broadband.

Did you have both, or if not, how did you swing it just for landline?

If you look at the T&C's it says for new phone, BB or both.

I asked as my line activated on 5th Jan and only just missed out and they acknowledged that and saw it as being unfair so agreed.

For existing customers its phone and BB.

That's why I was asking somersethillbilly how he swung it!

Just to clarify...I was an existing PO homephone customer. Landline only, no broadband with them. I called them on the number in one of my earlier posts and said that I was thinking of leaving them for another provider unless they could match the deal being offered to new customers. They offered to match the deal.

Give it a go, the last thing they want is customers leaving so chances are you'll get the same deal.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  • Thanks to somersethillbilly I called Post Office homephone as I have landline only with them and have been with them since 2009, I likewise told them that I was considering leaving them for another provider unless they could match the deal being offered to new customers. I was put on hold for a couple of minutes while the adviser spoke to his manager, then he told me we will match the deal being offered for new customers and rightly so!

:T Hey! Another result, well done you!
  • I currently have phone and broadband with plusnet but we are moving to a community wifi broadband service. I'm going to cancel the broadband with Plusnet but was just told by them that they don't offer the home phone as a standalone product. My intention is to move to VOIP after a few months so I now need to move my phone line for a matter of months.

As far as I can tell I can move to the Post Office with no minimum contract, is this true?

    Yes.

But you might want to stay 7 months (as if you do, they have a special offer where during the 7 months they give you a total of £50 credit off your bills)
