Hi All
I am looking at changing my current BT Line rental over to the Post Office, I basically use the line for broadband and making the odd evening and weekend calls.
Im not able to change the broadband as Im tied to a 12 month contract at the moment with 02.
Does the Post Office offer a good reliable service and can you use services like 18185 with them or should I consider other providers?
Thanks

PO is just a BT reseller.
Why not switch your line rental/calls to 02 and negotiate a bundle price? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
O2 are putting their line rental up almost double!! I am now looking to move my broadband and home phone from o2.. They doubled my broadband a year back.:mad:0

I currently have Post Office phone and broadband.
I am happy with them, although I don't know what that 18185 is so I can't comment on that - I know that when I changed from BT I lost the callsign number though.
With the broadband, I have always found their tech support quite good, and easy to get through to - so allround its ok
I pay for line rental, home phone and broadband in one deal0 -
I also have post office home phone and broadband
I find it very good value for me.
I think we pay around £26 a month for Phoneline (inc free evening & weekend calls) and unlimited broadband
The main benefits I find off it are
Free calls start from 6pm (BT has moved their evening to 7pm)
Free Weekend Calls include UK Mobiles as well as international calls (to around 20 countries inc Australia)
Customer services are brilliant - very friendly, Ireland Based (I think?), and helpfulWeight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -
Post office are also offering £50 credit for new customers at the moment, I'm an existing customer, phoned them up and got the same deal :j0

Are you on home phone only??
I signed up with them and my line was activated on 5th Jan (typical). What exactly did you say to them as I wondered if I could ask them about this.0 -

Phoned 0845 600 3210 > Option 1 > Option 4. I just said I wanted to leave unless they could match the offer for new customers, they rolled over straight away and said sure no problem. £25 credit will be on my next quarterly bill and a further £25 credit on the quarter after that. Hope that helps?0 -
PO Homephone also offering free connection till 31/3/2012
See: http://www.postoffice.co.uk/broadband-phone/home-phone-broadband/home-phone-broadband-standard/getting-connected
Indirect access on www.18185.co.uk does currently work , but only BT have to allow access.0 -

I might have to give them a call in the morning. I signed up just before the offer and my line went active on 5th Jan. I did think about Primus but moved with PO as they seemed a safer bet until I decide whether or not to take the plunge with Primus. This may help in getting this offer.0 -
I'm with the PO. They're not too expensive and I've never had any problems with the phone line or broadband. However, if you want to pay by DD, expect them to fail to set up direct debits repeatedly and bombard you with automanted calls chasing you for outstanding bills due to afformaentioned direct debits not being set up (or set up and immediately cancelled). On the bright side they don't charge you more for not paying by DD or for 'late' payments (or so they tell me, I'm yet to actually see a bill, I only seem to get the red reminders).0
