I'm not sure but I don't mind them coming round to quote for blinds.... I'll just say I have to get my OH's permission before signing anything!

My HSBC money has tracked on Quidco so currently at £130.00 :j - it's a great feeling getting some free money.

I've not been very good last couple of days, went shopping and spent £43 on food, and not a lot to show for it. I really need to get better at this!

Joined SW last night, aiming to lost 2/3 stone that cost me £9.50 (£5 joining fee). And £4.50pw.

I'm in despair with my car, having decided to put the Escort up for sale (currently on ebay) and stick with the Astra, I'm now not so sure. I've worked out the Astra does about 22MPG  which is shocking - should be about 39MPG. Now, I've not had it serviced properly for about 2 years, not sure if this could affect it so I'm going to get it done as soon as Escort sold and see if it improves things. I put £20 in last sat, done 100 miles and the petrol light is now on!

I'm off work today as DD got an ear infection but I've had little sleep because of this the last 3 nights so I've sent her to nursery for few hours and I'm going to chill out. Currently at library.

Hope everyone has good a good w/end - we've got a night out planned for Sat, going to BIL's for a Buzz night and we're all helping to cook a big chilli.
    xx

    Servicing will affect the mileage.

The last time I had crap mileage like that, the exhaust was coming to pieces, and it was partially blocked inside.

However it does depend on what your journeys are. Lots of people do a quarter of a mile down to the shops and wonder why their mileage is crap. You only get "proper" fuel economy when it warms up.

    Thanks Z,

Now you say that the rear exhaust box needs replacing, so could be that?

I don't do many short journeys, but to start with in the morning when the car is cold it's slow moving traffic. I'll get it serviced and see if it improves.

I'm not saying it needs replacing - only you can say that. I'm just saying the last time I had inexplicably poor economy, it turned out to be the exhaust. There could be other causes too though. The servicing is definately a problem - your spark plugs don't last forever, and they too can affect economy.

Is your exhaust rusting? Is it making a noise?

Sorry there should've been a comma in that sentence. Yes the rear box is rusty and I've known it needs replacing for some time but never had enough money to do it. It didn't fail the MOT on it but was picked up as an advisory note. It's not making a noise but it is rusty.

    Thanks Z x
