This is exactly how we deal with DS's questions, give him concise factual answers on a level he can understand and if he wants to know more he can always ask.
Was quite amusing when he was talking to my mum a while back though and she started on about the stork bringing his brother to him, mum didn't really know where to put herself when DS corrected her and started to explain where babies really come from :rotfl:0 -
Ah it's my step-son though - so not my place to decide what/when he gets to know.
I did correct him on the boys-can-have-babies misconception though! Luckily at the time he was really in to a book on the human body that he has (age appropriate) so it was easy to flip to the relevant page (with pictures) and explain that girls/women have an extra organ called a womb, that the baby grows inside, and boys/men don't have wombs so can't have babies. Easy explanation, age appropriate, and he thought it was great there is somewhere special for his little brother/sister to be safe growing in and not just in my tummy with my dinner.....!!!
Ah well, let's just keep fingers (or legs!) crossed that I don't end up with an unexpected speedy homebirth when he's here - otherwise he'll have one hell of a shock!!!! haha0 -
Congratulations Nutella!!
Re: Unknown pregnancies.
My Aunt found out she was pregnant at 5 months when baby kicked. It was her third so knew what it felt like. A bit of a shock.
A friend of a friend went out one friday night with work, got very drunk. Woke up the next morning with a bad stomach ache thought she had a bad hangover so took painkillers. She woke up with a start in lots of pain went to A&E only to be told she should be in maternity as she was giving birth. She had a beautiful baby boy, took them a while to bond but couldn't be happier.
She still had periods all the way through and although not slim she wasn't a big girl, just didn't show. Her work also clubbed together and helped buy loads of the equipment.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Love your nursery emsbet.
Congratulations Nutella!
Sorry I can't post much as got to dash and pick up some kids from their private school. Will try to catch up when I get a chance either tonight or tomorrow.
RE lady part names: I saw vajayjay on Grey's Anatomy and thought it was hilarious. I must admit that I've never really had a name for mine - just my lady parts.
Anyway, must go or I'll be late.
Hugs to all who need or want them, and labour vibes where appropriate.

Congrats Nutella!!! Glad you're home and beginning to recover.
Re: baby making business. My nephew (then 6) said to me "I've heard you're pregnant, how did that happen?" well it caught me off guard and was via telephone. However his daddy thought it was hilarious and I could hear him laughing in the background. i told him to ask his fatherAlso as obv he's not my boy I didn't want to go into details and not over the phone. Anyway my niece (who's 8 and recently had "the talk") soon cleared the matter up with the reply "they had sex, silly!" But I agree, there's no point lying, but give it at a level they understand.
Little Moog hugs for your headache. Hope you suss out the new phone soon
Well my news for the afternoon. Got call from my manager at work at half four. the person who was going to come and do my work assessment tomorrow had consulted the big uni chiefs and they've said I'm on sick leave so under no circumstances can he come. The module leader was happy to come and get it done. It's an assessment of me assessing and I'm on crutches. So anyway I have to wit until I'm back from my maternity leave as I won't be back before I start my maternity leave. Kinda gutted really, as it is the last in my degree and wanted to get it done before baby comes. Well on the plus side the rush to get the last bit done this evening has been relieved. I don't submit now until next year when I can do the assessment thing. I've been up since 01:30 am so now am beyond tired, think the sugar rush has worn off. Am off for a nap......:undecided:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Regarding names for lady bits, I've always been a fan of good old fashioned 'fanny'When I was little, we called it a 'mini' which was fine...until my dad got a mini car resulting in much confusion for me and my sister!

Arghhh the Uni just called to say we can sneakily do the assessment on a day inbetween sick notes so technically I won't "be sick" so now I do have to submit tomorrow, it'll fail cos I haven't got the assessment done but then I'll have the opportunity to resubmit with the assessment. So I'll only get minimum grade, which makes me think why bother putting too much more effort into this daft essay now. Minimum, scraping a pass doesn't bother me I was on course for a first anyway. At least I'll (hopefully) get the whole thing done before baby comes and won't have to switch to the new daftly named degree. Should be happy, but don't know if it's cos I'm so tired or just climbed into bed, I just can't be bothered to do anymore work now
