:rotfl: miss money! The baby brain strikes! :) I almost put toothpaste on my face instead of face wash the other day! Luckily I realised before I actually did it!

I have a question that I can't find the answer to anywhere. I know that baby's cot needs to be away from the window and radiator but i don't know how far away. The room we plan to use as a nursery is a tiny box room with lots of built in shelves so the positioning of the cot is restricted to two ways against the same wall and I'm not sure if they'd be far enough away! I don't get why they can't give a distance that is safe rather than some washy washy advice that doesn't really help!

    xx

We're also planning to use our tiny box room as a nursery, and due to the stair box (built in changing station!) there's only one position we can put the cot in, which will mean one end being against the wall at the side of the radiator. :o I'm planning to put baby's feet at the other end of the cot, and keep the radiator quite low, as it's such a tiny room it won't need much heating.

I just googled it and its very wishy washy.. however when my maddie was tiny she was in a box room. I had the cot on the other side of the room/fitted a radiator cover and had it turned down so it wasn't on too warm as babies cant regulate their temperature and can over heat. its easier to regulate their temperature through clothing and bedding rather than the radiator.
Probably no help :o lol xxxx

My friend described the sensation as feeling like she had a bowling ball between her legs when the baby engaged.

Hmm, it just felt something solid further down than was comfortable and right in the centre, maybe has started to engage then but not fully IYSWIM
Your bump drops too (quite obviously for some) so its not longer right up to your boobs

I have carried quite low throughout this time round, but have not really noticed bump has got any lower..

Am at consultants in a few weeks so will find out for definate then, was just an odd sensation :o

Thanks ladies, that's kind of what I was thinking. We too have the box in there which I'll use as a changing station. We also have lots of built in floor to ceiling shelves which I want to keep for storage.
I'm thinking best position will be along the wall the runs at right angles to the radiator and put bubs down the end that's furthest away. We will probably have the radiator turned down too and a thermometer of course to check the temperature. I just wanted some reassurance that that would be sufficient.

Baby will be in a Moses basket next to me for a while anyway. We will be swapping sides of the bed as my side is the radiator/window side.

If the cot will be in touching distance of the radiator, you may want to think of a cover... just thinking when baby get bigger and can reach to touch things through the gaps. don't want burnt fingers! xxx

  • Morning all!
    Hope everyone is ok.
Whoo the day has come Alizee guess you just have to wait if anything starts happening and wait for the texts/calls asking if you're in labour yet.
Glad you're ok Littlemoog despite the initial c!ck up. Would be worth writing a letter though as its not been dealth with well. You would think the GPs would contact all on thyroxine to see if they had a batch of the dodgy ones.
Not though too much where we're going to put our cot. The room isn't a box room, but not massive. I know OH is going to put a temp control valve thing on as it's a bit dodgy atm. But baby will be in with us for the first few months anyway.
Miss Money that is funny hehe it's the kinda thing I'd do! Well I do do. Think it's the lack of human company which is why I'm talking to objects. Saying that I've always said Thanx for the cash machine giving me money lol.
I've come to uni although I slept so well I do feel lack I've been hit by a bus. All joints are burning. It's submission day, I was given an extension as I still got to do my practice assessment. But it's only for a couple of hours and thought I'd see my friends here. Just enjoying Starbucks before the longer than I remember trek! Already thinking of going back to bed when I get home though :-)

Hi all! Just had an email from Boots to say that the have a 3 for 2 offer on baby and toddler stuff. Just had a very quick look and there is all sorts on offer - not sure if it is across their entire range but with highchairs and sterilizers included there's the chance to save some considerable money!

Re the box room nurserys and radiators - so glad you guys posted that info on here! We're using the box room too and OH wants to install heating in there; I'm going to show him this thread later now so that he can see if would be better to use clothes and blankets for baby instead.

Hope everyone is having a good day! x

I don't think it will but I'm just going to do some measurements now. Wanted to get a small chest of drawers and a rocking chair in there too but I think I may have to get a non-rocking one :( DH and his parents keep bugging me to go with a cotbed and they won't listen to me when I say it's not going to fit!

I don't tend to talk to objects but do have full length conversations with the TV... was watching the Apprentice last night and told Alan Sugar in no uncertain terms that he had fired the wrong candidate... think OH thinks I am insane sometimes :rotfl:
