Hi Guys - Had the day from hell yesterday. Got a cold just kicked in and whilst feeling ok thought I would trot out in the garden for a few hours. Woke up feeling a tad breathless but thought nowt of it. 3 hours later after digging in the veggie patch I suddenly came over absolutely knackered could barely stand up. So sat down for a rest and just felt worse and worse and more breathless. My heart was racing like a mad thing and my stomach was aching. Was beginnig to wonder if I was going to have early labour or something mad. So stayed in bed. Napped for a bit and still felt breathless and knackered. Fast forward to this morning and still the same although I can eat and drink without being breathless so a tad better. Not aching quite as much. Had terrible night with backache, hips ache, foo foo ache, knee ache the lot. But feeling mostly painfree today except a bit of backache when she is kicking me. I even got out the blood pressure monitor this morning as I was worrying guess I just got all anxious and worked myself up into some type of panic attack. :-s

((hugs))Rebekah, I hope you feel better soon. If your still feeling breathless tomorrow maybe give your midwife a ring for advice?

I think they only tend to worry if its bad when your sat down too which today it isn't. I've put it down to anxiety as I am prone to attacks and do feel better today. But if worse tomorrow I might any ways :) Ready for an afternoon nap now to make up for last nights bad night!

sounds like you are doing a little too much... brew, biccies and a lovely nap sounds in order.

emsbet, my hubby preferred the homebirth, he could try and make himself useful a bit more, getting stuff ready, fussing after the midwives etc. He definitely liked being able to get me tucked up in bed afterwards and not being made to leave us as you would in most hospitals. I always feel a bit sorry for dads at hospital births, without a good midwife who involves them they can easily feel quite left out.
  • Hugs Rebekah sounds like a nice chill out day may be the answer :-) hope you're back on good form soon. Maybe it's the cold making you a bit out of puff. Is scary though after my funny turn the other day. If you're still feeling rough tomorrow maybe get checked over by the midwife/GP?

Mummyoftwo I'm also thinking of home birth. I know it's my first and a lot of friends think I'm bonkers but the idea of trekking to the hospital and too many people interfering is not my idea of fun. Did you have a birthing pool at home? Have been looking at bits I'll need to get in, have you any advice? as there seems to be lots of "essential" items.
Emsbet I'm not sure how OH will react to the birth in general. One is thing is for certain if he gets distracted by the tv, as often happens when I'm talking to him, I'll not be a happy mummy. But I think I'll be calmer at home so hopefully he'll be calmer :-)

OH decided we "need" a new tv so has been out most of the day and has come home with a big 3d super special something something tv. I'm not even sure how you get things to be 3d on there? Now he's going to spend hours probably fiddling with it.....boys and their toys eh, what is our son going to be like? Mr Gadget Junior lol.

Kira, maybe your friend could lurk for a bit and get to know us a bit before she says hello if she's nervous. She'll see what we natter about etc. hope her antenatal care is better organised now.

Time for another :coffee: me thinks, maybe a sneaky choccy finger or two

  • Hi everyone

I have been lurking ever since I found out I was pregnant and thought it was finally the time to stop behaving like a stalker and join in.

I am 34 and 19 weeks today. This is our first baby due on 16th September (my oh's birthday). I am hoping that I will be either early or late though as I would like the baby to have it's own birthday.

For some reason I am having my 20 week scan at 21 weeks, I think it might be due to the fact that I was rather cuddly to start with.

I am in a similar position to you Emsbet as I am not working at the moment either, I am still looking for a job but no luck so far.

Can you please tell me when by when you want to have everything ready for the baby? On one forum I'm registered on most of the girls are almost ready at 30wks. They are now talking about ironing baby clothes but I haven't even bought any clothes yet! I'm 28wks 3days and all we did was paid a deposit for a pram and hubby started painting the nursery yesterday. Am I too far behind with preparations?

And a second question - do you know any websites where I could get free nappies/cosmetics samples? Not sure what brand I want to use so would be good to try a few and then decide.

It's not the end of the world if you have to do a bit of shopping after baby arrives, I was out shopping a week after DD arrived. With my first I didn't get much until really near the due date and then got given loads when baby arrived so was glad I didn't get much. Also no need to do up a nursery as you will have at least six months before they might go in their own room. Only really important thing is the car seat if you plan to drive home from the hospital.

Freebies - I think there are some links at the start of this thread. Good idea to try first, we got loads of pampers but they didn't work with our DD at all so gave them away. This time we have gone for a selection and are also have a few 'real' nappies to try and might give natural infant hygiene a go.

Well it's been quite a roller coaster so far, no mummy cuddles yet.

After my last update I went on the monitor and baby was getting distressed. Heart rate was 190+ and my contractions were too intense and frequent without enough dilution. I was prepared for emergency c section, met the anaesthtist but then the drugs calmed baby down again so decision made to wait.

Was due propess number two at 5pm, but heart rate up again so waiting until 7pm. Ifbaby reacts again though I think it'll be a c-section.
