  • Hi all, just popping in to say a quick hello, and to see how you all are?

Life a little hectic here with baby Izzie, but lovely allthe same and she is generally a very very good little girl! Very content and easy to look after. (touch wood)

Couple of tips for when you LO's arrive, keep a diary of feed times and amounts as trust me - your brains will not be working well enough to remember what they have had and when lol.

Keep your baby wipes somewhere warm ish (sealed obviousely sothey don't dry out) as they do notlike them cold and it will make them scream/wake them up when you least want it!

Have a bottle of Infacol in ready just in case they struggle to get their wind up, as it is magic potion and I would cry if I didn't have any in - poor little mite struggled before I got it.

Pads, pads, pads - have plenty in, in preperation - you will likely need them, and it is easier than having to send people out for more when you need them NOW!

Oh and my number one tip - buy a bottle of Badedas! It is bubble bath, it's a fiver ish a bottle (Igot mine from Tesco's) and it has a healing effect to it. Midwife recommended it to me, along with a few other mum's I know. After the birth if you are sore, achey or have had stitches down stairs it is magical, it relieves it temporarily and chills you out, and makes you heal quicker. I cannot stress enough how brilliant it is! OH had a bath with it the other night after a 6 milerun, and he now loves it too, and it will become a permanent fixture in our house! x x x x x

Basically, lying flat on your back = really hard work for you, but really easy for the midwives/doctors. Or am I just an old cynic? :D

Personally I don't care how undignified it is (labour's pretty undignified anyway) but I want to push my baby out whilst being on my hands and knees. Let's hope I don't have an epidural!

According to the midwife last night all the paintings/models etc... found from ancient times have women giving birth squatting, on all fours or stood up. It was King Louis XIV (according to various scholars) who started women lying on their backs to give birth because he liked to watch and it gave him an unobstructed view.

I haven't spoken to the obstetrician about it yet (will do at 36 weeks) but the midwives around my way seem to be very keen on doing as much as the labour as possible stood up, kneeling or on your hands and knees because it makes labour quicker and they don't have to fiddle so much.

Now I need to get my neurologist to confirm that there's no neurological requirement for me to be strapped to a bed with a heart rate monitor on me and a fetal HR monitor on baby so that the midwife/obstetrician doesn't panic and demand monitoring without any strict clinical need. I hate being made to stay still :p

Midwife's just left and I'm feeling a bit worried :o

I'm measuring a bit big for my dates (I was 27cm at 28 weeks, and now 33cm at 32 weeks), plus had a bit of glucose in my urine (had just had lunch but she has spotted it on occasion before, too).

So she's referred me to see the consultant, have to go in next tuesday :( Everything's been going so well until now! Hopefully it's nothing though...

Terrified now of having a ginormous baby and not having a nice straightforward birth, and feeling guilty about all the sweet things I've been craving... :(

Well, I don't think they will give me an option to do anywhere else than strapped to bed! They already said that with twins they use two monitors for them, one might be internal, one over the bump. So moving limited...

BB, don't worry, I am sure all will be fine. I though the measurement is within limits if it is within 2cm from the number of weeks.

And hi, snoopy, thank you for all the advise. I need to make notes o these, bu too knackered to get up from sofa and get a pen....

I am back home. Had to pop in home to pick Tom Tom as forgot I when leaving for hospital. And good thing I did, as when I got home, within minutes the delivery man turned up with my roman blind kit. It us so long, I would no ave bern able t fi it in my car to collect. It should be 250cm, as our window is huge.

The scan was fine. The babies are still very similar in weights, boy 1760g and girl 1790g. The appointment after was useless. I saw the same junior doctor as last time, it felt rushed, anything I raised was normal (increased discharge, swollen feet, ringing in the ears has nothing to do with pregnancy, the scratching pains down there are probably just a stretching, even if it is a sudden sharp pain that makes me jump!). The urine sample was fine, the blood pressure 120/70, so fine, and they took another blood test. Got more iron, but not sure I will have enough last till next appointment. I must have misplaced some of the one I got last time somewhere.

So, next appointment in 2 weeks, and next scan in 4 weeks. Hope I last that long! The boy is head down (still, he must be stuck there), the girl has changed her position, she is not folded in half, but still counted as transverse - head down, bump under my ribs with legs going sort of across my bump.

  • Snoopy fab advice, I've already copied the info across as I know I will forget it in the next few months otherwise!

Feeling a bit rubbish today; had really bad morning sickness in first trimester and it was all I could do to get through each day (I ended up having nearly 4 weeks off work). Second trimester has generally been good so far, but still getting a bit of a horrible taste in my mouth and feeling 'sicky' at times. OH is worried cos I seem to be a bit detached from everything and I'm not enjoying pregnancy as most would expect. I did speak to the midwife about it at my last appt and she said that if I still felt like this at my next appt she'd refer me to someone to talk about it. I keep holding on for my next scan on Monday - I'm really hoping that seeing baby again on the screen is going to help as I got all emotional at my first scan!

OH has promised to get back onto the house improvements this weekend as well; think that's been getting me down as well as it's been upside down for months now! Enough of my moaning, hope everyone else is doing well. x

Hugs! Sorry, you are not feeling well. Maybe it is something in the air today - I feel completely exhausted, I am collapsed on the sofa and can't move.

I have just 'awarded' the cloakroom job to someone on one of the trade websites, now just need to buy the loo and job can be done! It seems that one of the cats (either mine or visiting one) decided to pee/spray in the corridor by the front door... So, I have replaced the airwick spray in hope that it will discourage them. I think I will need to insist with OH that we put tiles or Karndean/Amtico there instead of the carpet, so at least we can clean place thoroughly if they turn to this again...
