Do you know what, I completely forgot about changing bag. I have a free one I got from boots but dont think it will be nearly sufficient. Which one did you go for? I think we would need a large one, and I would also want one that isn't too girly so OH can use it too.
I have the boots one (well, two of them), but they look so small! I saw online babymule one, which looks great as it s a bag pack as well,so free hands to take care of babies when out and about, but a bit pricey at over £80! I like the grey ones with red, but the pattern is a bit too girly... So, black one would be the one.
As for routines, I hope to get into one, but will see how I manage to deal with OH.
Well, finally managed to get the cot into one piece thing, fingers crossed it will hold. No much help from OH, he doesn't approve getting the room ready, or at least it looks like that. We didn't manage to remove the snapped screw, so it is still sticking out, he s gong to borrow some tools from work to see if he can remove it that way. I can now build the changing unit, but will wait till Monday to do that. And I better don't ask OH to help. It seems the only thing he can do and very well is watch TV, oh, and eat and cook sometimes. I don't care anymore what he says about the price r anything else, I am getting tbs cleaner. Then I can concentrate on sorting the wardrobes out (I know there are clothes in there that we haven't worn for 3+ years), stuff under the bed, storage cupboards, etc. I know we have too much stuff, and we need to sort it out, but it seems like he s only complaining to me about t instead of doing anything!
Sorry, I am in quite a bad place at the moment. Will be better tomorrow, has to.
Lovecrafting, ignore MIL, at least OH is on your side. I can assure you, that in my case OH would be either keeping quiet or on his mother's side. I already said I don't want them here for more than two weeks, but I think there might 'an accidental mistake' when they go to buy their flight tickets, or it s going to be much cheaper or whatever other excuse they can find to stay here for longer. Just dealing with OH these days seems like I am banging my head against the wall and getting ready for 'the shirt with extra long sleeves', I really don't need his mother as well to send me over the edge.
Ok, I bette stop now as I feel my eyes welling up again. Have a nice evening everyone and lovely Easter.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Oh gin, it sounds like you are having a bit of a testing time at the moment. These hormones are horrible and you are probably reacting to things differently than you usually would. Your OH needs to realise that he has to help you out with things a little bit more but I think it is hard for them. We are growing and nurturing these young lives and our instinct is to protect and nest for them but these men don't have these feelings. Don't ever apologise for being in a grump. We are all entitled to it and we are all here to support each other through our pregnancies. I think this period in our lives is when real girl power comes into force and we are all there for each other. I hope you manage to get some rest tonight and that tomorrow is a better day for you.

Evening all,
Hope everyone is enjoying the thought of the long weekend.
Easter Eggs tomorrow......
Feel all I have done this weekend is eat, I met up with my mum and sister yesterday and we went to this place called the waffle house, it was amazing I had savoury and sweet!
http://www.wafflehouse.co.uk/st-albans.html
Happy - I was looking out for a wee robin incase they wanted waffles but none around
My sister and nephews than gave me the below (my sister is rubbish at keeping secrets and was just too excited to wait for LO), it felt criminal to dismantle it - I was reduced to tears
Seemed to have been very hormonal and teary today along with clumsy - 1 bowl, 1 cup, 1 glass candle and the pepper grinder all broken today - so now avoiding anything breakableTwenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."Official DFW Nerd 1365

Ladies, a potentially silly question, are any of you planning on trying to set a routine when LO gets here?DH said today, so what do we do when we bring her home, like planning feeds and sleep times etc, and I realised I feel panicked that I have no idea and was just going to see how it goes, but now it all feels very real I don't know whether I'd feel calmer to have a plan - so my question is, is it mad to try to set a routine for a newborn?
Hiya.. I was thinking about this this week, and what i wished i had done/known in hindsight ( maybe if there is a number 2 at some stage eh!).
I think when they are new, there is no point trying to have a routine, just go with the flow, feed when they want it, change nappies as and when, and grab any sleep you can get. You both need to find your feet, so to speak!
What i would say about routine, is i wish that i had started introducing little going to sleep songs, pats/strokes, that kind of thing, so that LO started picking up queues for sleepy time (without knowing it), so that when its time to start thinking about routines, you already have some elements in place, rather than starting from scratch. Would have made my life alot easier now!
After the first 4-5 chaotic weeks, it was also really helpful to start recording on my phone, on the Ibaby app, when nappy changes, feeds, sleeps were and how long. It meant i was able to have a look and keep an eye out for patterns of when LO liked to go to sleep, so i could start picking out a bedtime/thinking of a routine. It took till about 6-7 weeks, before i spotted a bed time pattern, but once i did, and started to take her up at that time, it has stayed fairly constant.
Hope that helps a bit?Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Glimmer - oh I know it's Easter eggs tomorrow don't you worry. My cupboard is bursting at the seams. I might take one to bed with me so I can consume on waking.
Waffle house looks lovely. I've never seen anything like that before.
I've had a bit of a hormonal day aswell. I think I'm just so fed up of not being able to do things as efficiently as normal. Everything seems like such a huge mountain to climb. Even washing up drains me these days.
But not long to go so that is all good. You will have no crockery left if you are not careful!!!

That is really helpful Kira. From experience I agree the first few weeks are literally trying to keep your head above water and getting to grips with everything having a newborn entails. They are very good tips for after that period though and it is something I regret not doing with my first and will definitely be trying to implement some form of routine with this little monkey.

so we knew he was out of the way of his older brother and cats, if you are tight on space they do a mini version we didnt use the moses basket we purchased as this was so easy to collapse and move upstairs and much more study after the first week the basket felt flimsy.
Also good for a play pen when they sitting up :money: hth
i didnt think of that thank you i will have shop around and see what i can find, we are having some space issues but once MIL pi55es off it will make space a bit easier0 -
