I've been signed off since Christmas, and my current sicknote was written for 8 weeks, and has 6 weeks left to go... my doctor thinks the chances of my bp calming down and me going back to work are in the flying pig region. She also thinks it's a toss up if the baby will come before I need a new sicknote!
Hi Dinah93,
Hope you don't mind me posting, I'm on the newborn thread but still pop and read how the preg ladies are doing.
Don't want to scare you at all, but I was in a similar situation as you, had high blood pressure and was signed off work. My advice is to rest and put your feet up as much as possible. I was signed off at 23 weeks and ended up having an emergency section at 28 weeks due to severe pre-eclampsia. I spent weeks on the sofa, just eating and chilling and the Doctor said doing this kept my baby inside for a few more vital weeks. Really do take care of yourself, try not to stress and get lots of sleep.
Keeping my fingers crossed that your baby stays in place for a good few weeks yet!!

Back from the doctor and been prescribe omeprazole for my heartburn - doctor pressed just under my ribcage and asked if it was tender, and it was. He said we need to keep an eye on it, and to talk to my midwife when I next see her (a couple of weeks' time I expect). I've left a message on her answerphone as she's not working today - don't know why but whenever I call her, she's on leave - must have a lot that hasn't been taken or something I guess.
Will try out the new medicine tonight, and hopefully I'll sleep better tonight, which is good as I'm working all day tomorrow and the next day.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -

He said it's unusual to have it in early pregnancy, but as I used to get IBS, he said it may be because of that, but he said we need to keep an eye on it, as I was very tender when he pressed just below my ribcage. I heard the best cure for it is to give birth, so hopefully in a few weeks you'll be grand happydays.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Yeah I don't think I got it until i was about 20 weeks but it's just getting worse the more and more it's pushing my innards up in my body. Not a very pleasant symptom but could be worse.DS1 born June 2000

Just saw your post on the other thread and I thought the second trimester was weeks 13-27 which in effect starts at the 14th week if that makes sense. You are now in that 14th week so I'd say you were in the second one if that makes sense.DS1 born June 2000

Thanks for posting hon, to be honest I'm scared already. I've had hypertension for 10 years, but getting readings over 180/120 on a daily basis is scaring me something stupid. I'm worried just at the level it's at rather than pre-eclampsia at this point, as it's just too high for me to think it's safe. Hows your little one doing now? I'm 27 weeks now, and so scared she'll come in the next 3 weeks. I've been trying to rest for nearly 3 months now, but it doesn't seem to be coming down enough.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I'm sure you are scared, that's only natural, but they are keeping their eye on you and in my experience they are very cautious when it comes to pregnancy and babies. I was having very similar blood pressure readings as you and the day I had my section I had sickness and headaches. Luckily I was seeing my Doctor that day by chance and was taken straight to the delivery suite.
If you start feeling funny or sick, go straight to the hospital. The Doctor told me that if I hadn't delivered that night, I would have started fitting and gone into a coma. Sorry, really don't want to scare you, but it can be a very serious condition.
Now the good news, Poppy is at home now after 13 weeks on the Neonatal Unit and is currently sat in her bouncy chair watching our dogs!! She had every problem going, was extremely low birth (weighed 890g) and has come home on oxygen, but she is doing so well now, they are little fighters!
I really, really hope baby stays put, every day really does count! I'll be keeping my eye on this thread and watching your progress. God forbid the worse does happen and you have an early baby, let me assure you that the Doctors and Nurses are fantastic and they can do so much to help the little ones.
Have you an idea on your LO's weight from a recent scan?

Not yet, I don't have another growth scan until Monday, the last one was at 24 weeks and they just said she was almost exactly an average weight.
I've just taken my arsenal of tablets, I'm monitoring for the next hour, but if it doesn't come down significantly then I'm going to hospital, I'm so scared of the readings I'm getting today. I thought the midwife would send me in this afternoon to be honest.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
