ohh i can totally relate to you on the spd front, i am sick of having crutches as my new accessory and even debated pimping them. i can only imagine what its going to be like in a few weeks. i cant get in and out of the bath, i lay in bed and my legs are too heavy and even running to the toilet when i need to go is a nightmare.

Happy Anniversary dizziblonde - hope your SPD improves and you get to see the midwife soon - one of my friends had SPD, so I know how debilitating it can be - take it easy though.

  • Just to update the update....

Matilda arrived on the 17th at 4.18am weighing in at 7lb 4oz.

Daddy came home at 1am, still having mild contractions every 10 mins, not painful but tighter than BH's, told brother and his gf earlier that night to tape their phones to their heads just incase (was their turn to be on call for me to take me to hospital and look after LO)

At 2am I rang the ward to see when they wanted me to come in as I got 2 blinding contractions one after the other, they said immediately as this is baby 4 and I have previous complications.

Rang brother who came to look after LO and had to get my dad to take us in his van because bro's gf was pickled as a fart at home!!!

Contractions were all over the place and had slowed by this point so I was sure they would send me home again but (why the flip build 6 speed humps leading up to a maternity unit????) getting out the van they started up again and I couldn't walk so sort of inched my way to the unit holding the wall.

At 3.16 I got to the delivery room and put on a monitor, examined and finally given some G&A (it was only minutes but seemed like hours) I was 3cms.

The next contractions were on top of each other and it honestly felt like they were lasting 15mins each, i dont think the gas left my mouth!

At some point they broke my waters to put a clip on babies head, me still thinking i was only 3cms got a bit upset because it was hurting so much then they offered me pethedine to calm me down so she went to get that, left OH with the buzzer in case i started to push.........which i did!

At 4.18 she arrived after 3 pushes, caught everyone by surprise and the midwife just made it back to see her crowning, unfortunately OH had to look too and needs therapy now :)

so thats my unplanned natural birth.

Hoovered half the room... am now in tears from the pain and still have half to go.

Doesn't help we have to hoover on the intensive clean setting because of having dogs and a cream carpet which makes it really heavy to push the hoover anyway - trying to rest a bit before I try to do the other half of the room which is always harder going anyway.

We are doing great apart from struggling to get a good latch and the white clamp got caught on her nappy and now her cord is half pulled off so waiting for the midwife to come look.

No stitches for mummy, not even a bit sore and im feeling really full of energy (will probably crash tomorrow) having a few after pains though which are quite strong.

I forgot how much you pee after!

Love your labour story, much better than the horror stories they've been telling me in work. Like 3 days in labour, 13lb babies and 20 odd stitches! Not helping people :p
