That would be more than acceptable Sammie. Thanks.
I have an 11 year old who is morphing more into a stroppy teenager every time he talks to me. His idea of slavery is the kind where I'm the slave.DS1 born June 2000

Kids!! Wonder why we put ourselves through it again sometimes!!
I think I'm now an embarrassing mum as ds1 will not even acknowledge me once we enter the school gates!! They grow up too quick nowadays it's scary.

Just remembered I recorded OBEM last night and still not watched it. Was it emotional? Can't be dealing with anything emotional today!!
Hi all,
I didn't think it was emotional - one couple had me howling with laughter, and the other were a bit annoying and I felt sorry for the husband lol x xMarried the Man of my dreams 30/08/2008Baby No.1 arrived 04/04/2012, gorgeous little girl after 4 years of fertility issues!!:j:T0 -

My luck continues... ring the GP just as they reopen (they close for a very long lunch on a Thurs cos they run a late night surgery then) and am about to get an appointment for tomorrow when someone who's got through on the other line nicks the last one! Booked in for Monday but I know they'll manage to slot me in if I have a rough night and ring in in the morning - they're good like that.
Me and the dentist's complicated - I have a very very severe phobia of them - from an utter charmer as a child who'd pull teeth without warning me (he'd deliberately couch things in language I couldn't access as a child so I never knew what was coming), and then never let me spit and rinse my mouth out - so I would have to walk back to the car through the city centre gagging on gobfuls of blood. Add in having really weak tooth enamel anyway, and my teeth coming through crowded meaning lots of extractions and fillings needed - the seeds were very easily sown. I even said to him once that I got scared because he didn't tell me what was going to happen - and he was horrified at the idea of a 10 year old asking what was going to be happening!
Meant when I hit teenage years I'd do things like intercept and hide the reminder postcard, and then when my parents marriage went to crap and I was essentially charged with taking care of myself for a few years while my mum looked after my baby brother - I didn't bother much with my teeth - so they got more wrecked... result - by uni time I was running on permanent toothache and then ended up with attempt number 1 for me to get over my phobia of dentists... managed to get to the point of having a root canal done - but that took a heck of a lot of appointments and I couldn't stay on that list when I moved back home after graduation. Next time I got desperate for toothache - dentist was terrifying - put me off even more... and same again and again when I tried to find new dentists each time - just more and more bad experiences, meaning I'd never go back again cos it wouldn't take much to scare me off. Think my record was 2 years wtih a totally wrecked wisdom tooth, pacing the floors at night sobbing but too scared to go seek treatment.
This one's actually achieved the impossible - she's kept me going back for regular checkups and treatment for a couple of years... but she's got to do things with a very light touch because I'm so scared (I stammer, I scream, I cry, I lie there shaking and sobbing - people roll their eyes and dismiss it as a dislike of dentists - it's pure terror and it's taken a lot to get to where I can go in and sit down in the chair even). So she's always limited as to what she can do with me anyway - and I think that's why she's decided she's not even prepared to try to attempt an extraction on me without referring me up to the hospital to be put to sleep to do it (which of course they won't do while I'm pregnant anyway)... our PCT don't allow sedation at all for terrified patients (thanks guys) - so I do understand her logic in it all. I've had bother with the tooth off and on for over a year, she did an amazing rebuild job filling it to within an inch of its life before I became pregnant but I was having problems with it again at the start of the pregnancy and mentioned it to her then - when she refused to treat it, and I obviously got her on a bad day because she put me through the most horrifically painful descale and polish when my gums were all swollen from the pregnancy anyway (normally she tends to grab me for a descale while waiting for anasthetic injections to take effect since it hurts me less then and kills two birds with one stone). So I'm partly annoyed that if she'd listened to me saying the tooth was causing bother back then it wouldn't be utterly utterly shot to hell now really... and I can't quite fathom why she's happy to have a go at doing a root canal on someone who's terrified, but won't just pull the blighter and be done with it! She's probably the best I've found in terms of managing someone like me and not overloading me with horror stories or more than the bare minimum of treatments though... right now those historical ideas of taking your daughter along for their birthday, having all their teeth pulled and falsies made seem really atttractive to me cos my teeth are always just chasing toothaches around my gob - as fast as I get one fixed another acts up.
So yeah - quite how I'm going to broach the dentist thing when this baby comes and make sure that I don't pass this phobia onto them is somethign I've yet to figure out - I think dentist trips might well be daddy's duty, but it's going to be quite a juggling act making sure they never have to come along with me and see me in the chair... and people still roll their eyes and dismiss it as just a dislike of the dentists!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I can see the issue with the dentists is not something that can be easily solved and understand now that going to another dentist would not help the issue with the tooth in any way
(((hugs))) Dizzi, it sounds like you have really had an awful time of it over the years - I can't even imagine how you have coped with near on constant toothache at times - I would probably be a wreck
If you know that your doctors will definately fit you in tomorrow as an emergency, I would certainly go down that route - the antibiotics will probably take a few days to kick in so the sooner you get them the better for you. Hope you get some kind of resolution soon.0
