  • Natwesty - my midwife suggested a glass of tonic water a day for leg cramps and it's definitely working for me. They are painful aren't they!!

I`ve never not wanted anything, apart from pethedine as had that with DD1 and hated it. Now tho, i`m adamant i dont want an epidural and def dont want a csection! I think its mainly as i KNOW i can do it with just gas and air, and even that i only had for the last 1/2 hour with DD3. i dont want to be in hosp for more than the minimum time i can be, and anything like pethedine and epidurals mean i`d have to stay in! Going to be bad enough with the antibioic drip this time as i`ve never had that :(

Does anyone know why i`m not supposed to have hot baths?? Obviously i dont have them boiling as they make me feel faint, but i do have them quite tho still :/ always have done!! Ooops!

*edited, I`m thick Hello Lucy, i though for a min then u were busy having a baby!!*
Am i being thick or has Lucy not been on today???? xx

Would agree with this 100% I'm so glad I didn't make one, as I was totally against epidurals, didn't want any medical intervention etc. Ended up with an epidural, 2 pethidine injections and forceps to turn him, although I did manage to get him out on my own, because I begged them to let me try :o I didn't want him yanked out by forceps.

Gilly, how did you find pethidine? Am getting really bad lower back pain, and they said I could have that. Didn't know gas and air is only offered later.

    In all honesty? Sh!te.

It made me so drowsy and dopey, but I could still feel every contraction, it may work for just pain though, infact I think it probably would.

Being honest though, it's all they will offer you, either that or co-codomol I'm assuming. I didn't like how spaced out pethidine made me, and without my OH being there I would have hated it, as he had to help me to the toilet etc as I couldn't even walk in a straight line.

  • I didn't have a birth plan, I didnt want a csection, but after my waters broke and my baby was breech and no dialation in 12 hours, I didn't have a lot of choice. Third time lucky on the spinal block, which took about the same time as the section. I had such bad PGP that I felt so much better within 48 hours, but I had to be really careful not to over do it. Ive bust a stitch or two but the scar is healing well, and 16 days later I'm managing to look after Seb all day myself, which I wasn't sure I could manage. Changing him and bathing him is a little painful, but lifting him is ok as long as I'm not twisting. I would imaging being thinner and fitter would make recovery much easier.

I watched OBEM and felt a little jealous I didn't really get a labour and birth experience I was expecting, but I got a healthy baby so I'm sure I will cope. I think you just have to take what you get and be happy with it, cause you cannot change it once it's done.

Mozzy, I'm hoping your time will come quickly, hugs!

  • I`ve never not wanted a CS b4, its just this time, what with having 3 other kids, and family 200 miles away, and only a few friends 2 rely on for support, i`m just not sure how on earth we`d manage! DH is disabled and on morphine, so not alot of use most days anyway! He certainly cant do any of the lifting etc that i wouldnt be allowed to do. Of course if i have to have one then i will, wont make me feel like i havent given birth etc like some women do after having one. Having said that, this being baby number 4, he`s just going to slide out with a sneeze ;) hahahaha!!!!!!! Especially if he is actually facing the right way! After 3 back to back births, *if* this one is the right way, will be a doddle eh?! Like i`m stupid enough to really believe any of that!
Hope ur ok Mozzy? Pressuming ur DH been sent home now? :( xx
