  • Gemma - I had dreadful itching between about 13 weeks and 19 weeks on my bump and my legs. Midwife told me it was just stretching and probably dryness and told me to use aqueous cream. She also said it's just your hormones going a bit crazy as your baby really starts it's growing. Mine really worried me but one day it just went. The really scary itchy thing I asked about and was told this was very rare until the last trimester and so she was pretty sure it wasn't that. She told me to let her know again if I got really itchy palms or soles of my feet but this never happened and now I an absolutely fine.hope that helps.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced baby sling which has support? I ordered a cheap one from ebay but quite frankly,I'm not risking putting my baby in it as it seems as flimsy as anything:eek:

I've got a Close baby carrier, it's like a wrap sling, but with rings instead of having to tie it. I had visions of my knots coming undone halfway round the shops, so decided I'd rather have a ring one. It cost me around £30 secondhand on Ebay.

Hi Gemma, I'm pretty sure Kira had something similar and was prescribed aqueous cream with menthol and it really helped her :)

Spot on Gilly! Gemma, i had horrible itchiness develop around 28 weeks. I saw the consultant for a regular appointment, and he gave me blood tests for obstetric cholestasis, and prescribed me the aqueous cream with menthol in the interim.

It did an amazing job at getting rid of my itching. As it was, my bloods came back clear.

I've found my normally well-controlled eczema's gone nuts with being pregnant - am sat here with my beloved wooden old-fashioned ruler-come-backscratcher at the moment. Since I've got like three pots of Lush moisturiser my mum got for me at very low cost I'm just working my way through those though - much more pleasurable than aqueous cream that I can't stand the smell of since we had years of putting emollients on my younger brother!

Worked out all we need baby-wise now off the list is a cosytoes and pushchair raincover (our travel system came without), toys for later on (although we have a cuddly cat that goes boing boing when you press her hand that our greyhound's DETERMINED belongs to her and her alone - and a few other bits and bobs) and if I ever find a nice rug for the nursery that doesn't cost the earth - that! Ordered a nicer changing bag today since the one that came with the buggy is flipping hideous.

Going to start the hospital bag ongoing packing in another month - figure 30 weeks is a good starting to hoy things in the bag point by then.

SPD is getting attrocious and I'm only 26 weeks today - it's now at eyewatering levels getting upstairs and really getting me down - spoke to the physio about it the other day and have an appointment to see them on Monday - can't complain about a week and a half from mentioning it to the midwife to getting an appointment to see 'em really considering someone on another forum's got a 6-8 week wait! Can see me ending up on crutches soon with how bad the pain's got though - which will make my one morning a week supply stint amusing - can't see many schools tolerating a supply on crutches! However much I vowed never to complain my way through pregnancy after the pain we went through to get here - this pain is really getting to me now.

Don't worry too much Lucy, the bath can slow things down in early labour. xx
