All very valid reasons tbh. I'm still beating myself up about the fact Aaron is being fed half and half, and I know I shouldn't as I'm expressing, as well as feeding, changing, winding etc and making up bottles of formula, and it's not easy. I think the fact you've fully formula fed in the past though is a good thing, as if it was too much for you, you'd maybe find it easier to make the choice to FF? You could do half and half, or even 75/25.

  • Yeh i really wouldnt beat myself up about going to FF if for whatever reason it wasnt working. Even if it was purely selfish reasons, as my 3 girls are perfectly ok having been on a different type of formula as babies! (normal milk, soya and hypoallergenic!) DD1 got headteachers award and DD2 got lunchtime award last week, so must be doing something right as a parent eh?! I think it will also depend hugely on how my labour goes/how long i`m in hosp etc. If they wont release me until baby is feeding properly, i`ll put him on formula until i`m settled at home and then give it a go. Tbh i`d be more than happy with just breast feeding at nighttime! How does Aaron cope with the change from breastmilk to formula? Does he seem to prefer the taste of one over the other? And well done to u for persevering with the expressing hun xx

He seems to cope fine, he does guzzle the breast milk God love him, but I think that's more to do with the consistency rather than preference. He's a greedy wee piggy, so I think he'd take anything in all honesty :rotfl:

Yeah the feeding in hospital thing is horrible, I was made to feel like crap because I didn't want to give him formula and how ill I would be making him if he didn't feed etc. I guess as a parent though, you will always feel guilt about something, it's just one of those things :o

On another note where is Mozzy tonight? Maybe something is happening.

I think you cant win. Last time round I felt an emormous amount of pressure to breast feed which was very hard after my CS. I had a very poor supply which just kept diminishing even though I tried round the clock to feed and express. My little man lost weight and I felt like sh*t but on the otherhand didnt want to give up on the BF. after about 2 weeks the health visitor made me take him to the GP who advised I supplemented with formula. We never looked back but it was the killer blow for my BF, supply completely gave up but the guilt around the whole issue is huge. I hope that experience will in a way make it easier this time to accept when its just not working tho I hope it will work better. I think there were a few reasons why it didnt work for me...the CS and complications after, the stress of feeling like I was failing and DS didnt have a great latch.

Hey, sounds good to me. I only stepped out of bed at 1pm today!

I reckon on Wednesday I'll be making sure the house is clean and ready, shaving and getting lots of sleep if I can manage :)
