I will be on £117 a week maternity pay, and whilst it's crap we've managed to get by and still buy things whilst I've been on SSP which is £85 a week so I'm not overly worried. We have however started the grocery challenge on here as well as a few other things such as SwagBucks so that we have a bit of extra cash.

Don't forget there is Child Tax Credits and Child Benefit as well once baby is born although it may take up to around 8 weeks to come through.

  • Silly Moo/Aimless Nice to hear that the natural way suits others too! OH and I said we would like to let the cord pulsate and then we can make a decision as to whether or not to have the injection.

    Ickle - marble cake please!

Sa-ra-ra-ra (did I put enough ra's! lol) in case you missed my previous post I have ordered this book from Amazon - hoping to get some really good tips and hints from it. I had a look at the contents page on Amazon and it covers from pregnancy through to young years so lots of ways to save money and make the most of what you have. Chances are I won't be going back to work at all (if we can manage!) so I need to make some lifestyle changes!

Rups I know people must think i am mad for getting so worked up over my cat, but my neighbours did this to me before - they basically encouraged one of my other cats to go into their house and kept feeding her titbits. They they started shutting her in THEIR house at night - and then complained to me when she messed in there! They kept saying that we all had to find a way to get her back to me, but they never shut her out and kept on feeding her titbits, all the while expecting me to pay for her main food! In the end she wouldn't come into my garden to eat so I had to put food on top of the wheelie bin in their garden! This went on for a few years and they always claimed that they couldn't get hold of her to bring her back to me (even though she followed their grown up daughter everywhere and slept on her bed) but the minute that they noticed there was something wrong with her mouth (turned out to be a tumour, and no they didn't even offer to contribute to the vets bills) they were knocking on my door with her in a cardboard box. They are nice people, but they want the joys of having an animal without actually having to pay for it or be responsible for it. There's no way I am letting them do that to me again cos my cats are like my children and I love them to bits!

Oh mmm, that is sad. yes you are right to feel that way. Cats dont know any better and usually go where they are given food and love, so you are in your right telling them to stay away. annoying.

no comments on maternity pay as have to make head and tail of mine. i hope we can manage as well. keep telling DH about shopping in sales etc and he keeps saying to hold off. grrr.

My bl00dy neighbour does this as well! We've got four cats, and she's encouraged them to come over to hers one by one, except she actually feeds them  I've asked her to shut them out, I've told her to stop feeding them, I've even given her a water pistol to discourage them from jumping in through her window and she just won't do it. It drives me bonkers and makes me really sad because I miss my cats. I don't know how to solve it, except we are getting a cat flap put in as part of our kitchen renovation so they'll be able to get in all the time instead of jumping in through the window.

There are always sales on, so I wouldn't worry too much.

We bought our cot from Allders at the weekend, as the Mamas & Papas outlet had 30% off there. It's the one we wanted but not in the colour we were particularly after - not too bad for 30% off though! We also got our mattress for half price, which was exciting too.

Just before we moved from Ripon to Leeds my Chaos went missing and I thought she had run away, I was devestated and spent ages looking for her and trying to find ways to coax her back, a few days later we had to move and I had to accept we would never find her. :(

OH was still working in Ripon, and one of our neighbours came in to his work and they were chatting and he said it was really nice of us to give the lady a few doors down our cat as she really loved her. Turns out that the woman had coaxed Chaos in her house and then kept her in because she knew we were moving and she was going to miss her as she'd gotten used to feeding her and stroking her etc and would be lonely. I didn't have the heart to go back to Ripon to cause friction and take Chaos away from the old lady. :( OH has said after baby is here and he is a bit older he will get me another cat but it's not the same :(

It depends Ikkle, I would be really tempted too, If you have everything else set up putting the bedding on isn't going to make too much difference but will make you feel more gooey (in a good way :))

go on ikkle try it and put it away then. take a picture. :) hehe

that is sad about your cat sarara and ikkle. that would make me cry. i think i would prefer a dog in that case as at least they know you are their owner and they always come back to you.. cats are lovely but materialistic, sadly.
