ahh dizsiebubba i am in love with mine and keep stroking it and thinking of the 13 week scan and speak to it like a lunatic. :)

thanks for the reassurance. see i dont have those doppler things otehrwise i think i would drvive myself insane, yet stupidly i always place my hands on my belly and hope to hear some sort of heart beat (probably not a right way of finding out anyway). i do worry about the heart beat a lot, i wont lie. and i think because the 20 week scan comes in 5 weeks time, i just keep assuming things may go wrong. :( fear is such a terrible thing! i so want to be positive and i try but like this morning being awake at 4, and thinking stupid things, i want to slap myself.

I talk to the baby all the time Diszi, OH makes me laugh cos he lays with his head on my belly and whispers stuff to the baby too.

My OH tries to talk to him but he feels silly so he just acts silly too by saying things like 'HELLOOOO IN THERE!' and he always asks me 'How is my baby' or 'Where is my baby'...

I'm glad I found out the gender because for me I think it has made me bond with him even more already :)

Having a doppler though could make you more panicky... Although I have been able to heart the hb from very early, it takes a while to find.

I have an anterior placenta (at the front of my womb) so I have to root around to find the hb and I can only feel movements to the side of my body so not every day, but because I know all of this I am quite calm with it :)

Moon was talking to Bean last night, and he told him "Hello Bean, I'm your Daddy and my name is ______" - why does he need to know any other name than Daddy? lol
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Hi all, long time no speak! Been quite busy finishing everything off ready for buba - due tomorrow... hehe. Surprisingly relaxed about the whole birth thing now, just want to know when it will actually happen. (still can't quite believe there is a little person in there!:p) My next midwife appt is at 41 weeks which they have already mentioned the dreaded sweep!

This thread runs far too fast so welcome, congratulations, good luck and hugs to those who need them!

Haha he whispers secrets and stuff and blows raspberrys on my belly cos it makes the baby kick. Then when he's sulking with me he tells bubs to beat me up lol. Also when we watch tv and something happens he turns round to my belly and says if you do that my boy your grounded till your 40 lol.

I just love it, I can't get over the fact that this time last year I thought I couldn't have kids, or that it would be very difficult to say the least. Then at christmas I was worried I was having anovulatory cycles and now I've got a baby inside me and only 90 days to go till my due date and it's just overwhelming and amazing and even though I've been ill and in pain, I wouldn't change a second of this pregnancy cos it's making my boy and I can't wait to meet him, but he's got to cook a bit longer yet.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I can't help about the parent thing Clarissa but wanted to let you know I am in the same position. Mum is 4 hours away and will want to be here pretty quick after the baby arrives I imagine. Obviously I want her to meet the baby but I am really not sure how I will feel, don't want to be trying to work out feeding etc with her advice even if she is trying to be helpful. Ideally after about 7-10 days would be good but I know I am just going to give in and let it go to not cause stress.

Worse is my inlaws - they live 600 miles away and have talked about hiring a van to bring "all the stuff" and the horrible bity dog. I have told OH if that animal turns up it will be staying in the car or the garden. I mean who turns up to someone else's house to stay with a huge dog without specifically asking, especially when there is a new baby?

We are getting rid of the spare bed to make room for a nursery so they are all at least being told there is no room here to stay overnight. If they are in the premier inn or whatever at least I might have a chance of being dressed and sorted in the mornings.

ps - I don't have a problem with dogs and babies generally, but not in my house and not this dog

Candycane your post made me smile. nt that dog. lol. is he one of those dogs you have a bad relationship wth? some are such a pain! i love cats and dogs though. :0)

its so cute reading about everyone's DH or OH's talking to babies. mine is still a bit reserved but occassionally does the 'heelllooo there?' or punches towards my belly. silly DH. he normally goes for the melons above and i have to remind him that the bellys getting left out! lol

LOL My OH is a b00bs man too... we have been together since we were at school and he has never quite got over the school boy dream of being able to touch b00bs when he wants too so mine get groped all the time...usually accompanied with a honk noise  and it hurts! Now they are bigger I have to sleep topless so they are completely free as it is so much more comfy... the first few nights he said it was distracting him from his sleep!!!

Yeah rups it is particularly this dog glad I made you smile at least, think I might cry if it actually turns up.

The worry never completely goes away but I felt so much better after my 20 week scan and my OH also started to worry less (I didn't know until after but he knows 2 people who found issues at the 20 week one so he was terrified). Since then feeling the baby move and actually developing a bump makes things more real. I think we are both still quite detached from the idea that this is actually going to be baby in less than 3 months but the worry is fading and the excitement is getting more. There isn't any point in worrying about how you are feeling, just go with it I would say
