Rups, my letter for the nuchal test took quite a while to arrive - I think in this case bad news travels faster than good. My letter just said 'low' chance (didn't give a 1 in xxxx chance) and therefore no further action.
Did you get your measurement (is it in your notes?). That combined with the blood gives you the proper chance but I came home and googled the measurement for my curiosity! I was a bit surprised that she measured the fold about 4 times which is why I thought I should check in case something was wrong but it wasn't. Just making sure I guess, after all you're talking millimeters!

Moneypuddle Do what you can hun and if you can't do it all then that's not your problem, work shouldn't be putting everything down on you while your pregnant, and how the chuff does having a toenail removed stop someone from sitting at a desk and doing work? Don't let it get you stressed hun ((hugs))

Sararara Isn't it great when you start feeling those flutters :)

LittleMoog are you going to find out the gender?

KatyLiz You could try popping a pillow behind you to stop the rolling backwards? I swapped sides of the bed with my OH cos he kept breathing on me and I didn't like it lol.

Rups I think whilst the test only takes a couple of days to do the results can take a bit longer to come through.

Mishka Congrats on 28 weeks :)

As for baby brain I have it sooo bad it's untrue. The only people who ever know what I'm on about are my OH and my nan, I even forget words.... the other week I was telling people I'd eaten 6 kievs and I meant kiwi's as in the fruit!
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

No we're going to have a surprise :)

My DH does that with words - substitutes with something starting with the same letter/vaguely related. He's always done it, it's a bit like a verbal dyslexia. Makes things a bit confusing sometimes, but I'm so used to it I can normally figure out what he's on about!

  • Welcome to the newbies!

KatyLiz a water pistol is a good idea if you want to deter the cats, they will certianly get the message! I am a cat lover BTW but shooting water at them is not going to harm them in anyway and I know it is frustrating when other peoples cats wander in and poop everywhere! I am lucky with my two - they always use the flower beds in my own garden or they make a point of coming IN from outside to go in the litter tray!

Moneypuddle hugs to you, as Little Moog said just concentrate on your work and the colleague's whose child is unwell- everything else will have to wait and you can only do so much. try not to get worked up hun (says the wmaon who was been ranting and raving this morning over Sales misquoting projects again! - LOL)

Mishka - congrats on 28 weeks! When I got to 28 weeks my app said I was officially in the third trimester (although others said it was 27 weeks?) so this may be why it rings a bell?

Forgot to say yesterday, checked with my midwife on antenatal classes; they are free ones at a community centre near me but they are during the day and OH can only come to the last one! The others are up at the hospital but they are the ones we have to pay for as it is run by an external company or something. the good thing is though that they are impartial and that OH can attend all of the sessions; they also limit them to a certain number of couples. I really begrudge paying for it, but I know how involved OH wants to be and I think it's important for him to get as much info as possible too!

Re. sleeping positions - I used to worry about this a lot (I'm a front sleeper too) and asked two different midwives (one wasn't enough - I needed double reassurance!) and they both said the same thing - along the lines of 'yes, the official advice says sleep on your left, but trust your body to know what it's doing and sleep in whatever position enables you to get some sleep!' Sleeping on your front won't harm the baby as he/she is well protected - but at some point it'll simply feel too unfomfortable. I also couldn't lie on my back beyond approx. 20 weeks as I felt really faint and dizzy - I nearly passed out at my anomaly scan. Your body will let you know if whatever position you're sleeping in isn't working for you!

Personally I found that the recovery position you learn at first aid courses worked for me - with pillows under bump and top knee/leg. I could trick myself into thinking I was sleeping on my tummy when I wasn't, and I also wasn't 100% on my side, which would have led to a lot of pain in the leg that was being squashed underneath the other one... This might not work for everyone, but might be worth a try - I slept like that right up until giving birth. Now that my LO is here, I'm thoroughly enjoying sleeping on my front again - but she's well worth nine months of discomfort!

Ikkle, forgot to say that my changing bag arrived yesterday! Thanks again for the tip-off! A Tommee Tippee bottle won't fit in the bottle holder, but it doesn't really matter as I already have insulated bottle holders that came with my TT steriliser.

Sorry hun I forgot to mention how skinny the bottle holder is, we've got TT bottles too. You could always use it for something else lol. Eyeliner and mascara? Pens? Some nappy sacks?

The changing mat actually fits in the big pocket on the outside too if you want to free up a little more space on the inside x
