Morning everyone! Having had a wobble over my weight last week (which you were all very lovely and helpful with) I have weighed today and discovered I've gained three pounds, so all systems go for massive fatness by the looks of it, hooray!
I am also finding this last week that even though I don't seem any bigger, none of my trousers are as comfy as they were. I'm now dithering over whether or not it's time for maternity stuff, and if so what I should get, especially for work. I am normally a size eight and am now wearing size ten stuff this week, but obviously as I get bigger I am gonna have to buy some stuff. My work is business dress so I am thinking I'll investigate maternity trousers once payday arrives (have had to get a new boiler this month, £1300, ouch!) but I'm not sure what size to buy - do I buy an eight or something bigger?0 -
Wow, this thread moves quickly! I like the look of a couple of those changing bags, but I'll just stick with a free one. Where is everyone getting all the free stuff from? As I already have 2 kids I wasn't given any of the info booklets/leaflets or freebie stuff this time round. I have thrown away everything baby related years ago though, so I'll need to start getting everything again.
mishka- I can't watch baby related tv, anything with pregnancy worries me. I went to see Prometheus at the cinema and even that freaked me out, although I'm pretty confident I haven't got an alien in me :rotfl:
LadyMorticia- I always get told my blood group, but then I forget it, so it's a surprise to me every time lol! Hope the appointment goes well.
dizsiebubba- I keep getting really hot too. I'm not as bad at home as our house is quite cool, but walking the kids to school has me breaking out in a sweat that would be more suitable to a long distance run!
AMC - sounds painful, hope you're ok.
missbunbury - I've always gone for maternity clothes in my own size (12), but I think it depends where you shop. I've got to return some jeans I got in New Look as they are huge and I'll need to go down to a 10, but it seems to vary by shop.
I'm having a bad day with my SPD. I can't bend at all, and can't push the hoover, so I'm just staring at the mess that is my house. I need a cleaning fairy to come and sort it out for me. I guess DH will have to have a tidy, but it is so frustrating not to be able to do anythingCross Stitch Cafe member no.800 -
dizsiebubba I have got clothes from yours which aren't maternity but the clothes are in bigger sizes and have been great for over the bump without making me feel huge. I get the idea that they are naturally designed to hide tummies while flattering the rest of the figureOverdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

When its warm, would baby need a vest under a sleepsuit? Thought that would only be in the colder months? I suppose when baby is here we'll just use our instinct on how it should be, everyone does things differently! I've got loads of outfits so will be putting baby in those most days, sleepsuits will probably only be for bed anyway!
I always found a best helpful for holding the nappy snuggly in place but Im expecting my first summer baby well early Sept. I've not a clue what sort of clothes to buy as its usually hot then but will it be hot enough for no vest, summer clothes . I don't want them overheating in a vest and long sleeve outfitWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
I clearly need to start learning about baby clothes, this is news to me as well. How many layers does the little one need to wear?? (Mine will be a winter baby - early Dec I think)
I have had two winter babies and always put them in a long sleeve vest and then a warm outfit for in the house then just put a all in one coat, mittens, hat and put a blanket on them when we go out. You need to be careful not to overheat newborns.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
Does anyone know where I can get some pretty girly sleepsuits that are good quality but not too expensive? With my other 2 we splashed the cash on clothes but this time round we are needing to budget but even looking on George they are roughly £5 a sleepsuit and when DD was in them 12 months ago they were poor quality and did not wash well.Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

Morning all!
Havent posted I don't think over the weekend, but I've been lurking. Had a few roughish days so was feeling a bit miserable.
Hope everyone is ok. Welcome to all the newbies
RJH good luck for today! I'm sure you'll be great!
LadyM I think I had my first consultant appt at 16 weeks. I don't really know why I went. He had a little look at bubba and read my medical history. And to come back in four weeks. Maybe it's just to meet you and see how much input they need throughout the pregnancy I guess. I saw him eight weeks ago where he said I couldn't have a home birth and some of the likely complications of labour. I'm seeing him again tomorrow and the midwife so we'll see. So far they've not actually done anything or planned anything. But they always like a little look at bubba so it's worth the journey for me.
Good luck with your midwife today
AMC glad you weren't too hurt on your fall, must have been a shock! And that naughty cat of yours! Think I'd rather a dead bird than trying to catch a live one lol. There must be feathers galore!
I've also got a medela pump the mini one. They seem to resell well so even if you don't use it you should be able to get most of your money back. I'm planning to bf for as long as poss, well not til they're four! But you know what I mean. But I'm looking forward to expressing so OH can do some morning feeds
Mishka I used to love watching that show, but as I'm further along it's worrying that my baby is the same size as those. And they're all higher risk so things are complicated so I don't watch too much now, especially after the one where a 16 gave birth early and she had to turn off the baby's ventilator.
Emsbet try not to feel guilty, I know it must be hard. But now you have so much to look forward too. You'll always remember your first baby and Alex. Sending lots of hugs xx
Missbunbury I think the guidance is buy your normal size clothes in maternity range. Saying that I have my size 12 trousers and a dress!haha not fitted in size 12 for ages! I've got lovely smart black trouser from asda they were £12 I think. New look do nice officey stuff too.
KatyLiz sorry to hear you're having a painful day. I told OH yday I need a cleaner cos sitting here all day looking at the house is driving me mad. He said ok, so I don't know if he meant it! If you find a fairy pease send them onto me
Missmonkeymoo I've got some ideas for my birthing plan. I will ask my consultant tomorrow. I've a feeling there's not a pool in the main hospital where he wants me to gobut I'm not being strapped to a bed like a prisoner! Even if you don't have an official plan, may be worth looking online at some and getting ideas. Some of them have really nice ideas like low lighting, do you want music? Would you be open to aromatherapy etc (guess this depends on what's available), ideas of pain relief - some say don't offer me an epidural etc even if I'm in a lot of pain, can't think now. But even if in your head you have some ideas cos if it all goes perfectly without the need for induction etc then you'll be prepared. I think NHS choices has a good one, but if you google I found loads and picked the nice bits.
Ikkle I'm going to look into hypnobirthing too. I'm not keen on epidural or pethidine although I may change my mind! But Kira who just posted about the newborn group recommend a cd may be worth PM'ing her or asking on the newborn thread. I'm sure I've it written down somewhere if I ever found it I'll post it.
Bellola hugs for the carpy cold, hope you're feeling better.
Rups I'm roasting! All the time! Even in bed I've the window open, but I like to be covered so have a quilt cover or sheet just to go over. Think it's to do with all the extra blood we're pumping about. I'm dreading going into hospital. Saying that I've worked in one for eight years, I visited the other day, I was melting!! It's awful in hot weather as all the older people still need the heating on. I'll be investing in a fan I think!
MrsB glad it was just an ice cube, bet you nearly had a heart attack!
Sorry if I missed anyone, was trying to read back as I typed.

Welcome to all the newbies that have signed in over the weekend
I have been busy over the last few days with non baby stuff but cant believe today is the last day of double figures 10wks to go so from tomorrow 9 +6
I have started to read info on birthing options and pain relief from leaflets given to me at 28wk check and OH and I have discussed our ideas on how things may go but havent considered writing a birthing plan yet if at all.
I am stuck at work doing an extra couple of hrs today, could have done without it but not too much to do so sitting here a bit longer isnt going to hurt i guess and its extra money.
6wks until mat leave and looking forward to it now as i have started having days when i struggle more then others.
Hugs to all who need it todayRachel

my ds1 was born in september (it was a super hot late summer) at home he would wear a vest, with then either a sleepsuit or just trousers if it was a very warm day.
I would always put a vest on and add to it, they say baby needs 1 more layer than you do - in summer i wear just a t-shirt/trousers so he would wear vest/t-shirt/trousers.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
after doing alot of thinking i've decided that i'm gonna push this baby out instead of having a section, i cant bear the thought of having to stay in hospital any longer than i absolutely have to, i am depressed already at the thought of going all the way over my due date again, which i know i will do but knowing that all being well i'll be home 6 hrs after the birth kind of swings it for me.............so now my dates have gone from Oct 31st (official) to Nov 10th, prob go for induction on nov 11th. Babies just get too comfy inside me ;DSkint, but happy (ish):p0
