    Morning all,
Hope everyone is well and has had good nights sleep.
I'm looking some advice - my hands and feet have been slighty swollen since the hot weather a few weeks ago and haven't went down but I have just put it down to warmer weather & pregnancy but the past week I've woken in the mornings with pins and needles in my fingers and stiffness. I'm just concerened because it's starting to hurt like when I was driving in this morning to work. It isn't unbearable but I just wanted to get your opinion before I ignore it. I looked on the net and my symptoms point to carpal tunnel syndrome??? Grateful for any advice.
    Betty xx

Does anybody know how early you can start to get PPGP or SPD??? I have had some pain since about 14 weeks and its getting worse and worse x

Hi dizsiebubba just delurking to say yes you can get it this early. First pregnancy I developed symptoms at 12 weeks - thought it was sciatica but turns out to have been PPGP/SPD (I had pain at both the front and the back). I kept going until about 24 weeks and then asked doctor for some help, went o physio who are reluctant to do much due to baby but got a belt (didn't help me unfortunately) and crutches which did help a bit. Hugs for you - i sympathise a lot!

This time I am only in the early stages and ironically it was my first symptom at only 4.5 weeks! Think I am in for rough ride! DOn't wait too long before going to the doctor and be forceful if you feel they are fobbing you off. SYmptoms I had were pain sort of in the middle of the buttock on both sides. It can radiate down the leg slightly so can be confused with sciatica. The pain very quickly started round the front as well. I really hope you don't have it and that it eases up for you!

I've had this on and off for a few weeks now, but it alternates sides and thankfully is more like a dull ache (& only when I move, and not always then) - almost like a dead leg...?

Sorry I don't really know much about carpal tunnel syndrome other than the fact that our Polish neighbour had it in pregnancy Betty. I would try to make a doctor's appointment if I were you though, even if it's just to check your blood pressure is ok.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Wow you are a chatty bunch!

I apologise for not having been on here for a while, had a manic week last week! Am just resting this week as my feet and ankles are strting to resemble an elephants!

Kabie that must have been just awful for you, so sorry to hear about your mum. As everyone else has said, come on here any time you need a chat! And congratulations on your little boy x

museumworker I bet that was scary, glad you and bubs are ok!

missmonkeymoo I had a stuffed up nose for about a month, around 28 weeks it used to drive me mad! And definitely a growth spurt around that time, I remember it well, feeling dizzy, hungry all the time! Sounds completely normal but always worth mentioning to your midwife.

Sorry if I've missed anyone, hope everyone is ok!

I'm getting strong Braxton Hicks regularly now, and lower back pain on and off. 2 weeks to go, come on!! Don't feel like its 'time' though just my body getting me prepared I think!
And baby is still moving constantly, I thought he was supposed to have slowed down a bit now but no, I'm getting booted left right and centre, and loving it! :D

Sexymouse - thanks for the heads up! I think the cot is out of stock at the mo anyway and not due back in until August! So we could hold off ordering anything until then and hope that some event comes up in the meantime. The nursery isn't going to be ready until Aug anyway, so it may time quite well, all said and done!
Ye i'm waiting for the pooh cot too. Not in til August. Known my luck end of August lol. She has a moses basket until then. So she better sleep in it

Triangle good luck for today and your scan, you'll be fine only 2 weeks to go now, exciting!

Betty I've had numb fingertips on my right hand since about 28 weeks, sometimes the whole finger goes like pins and needles too, midwife said it was fine, carpal tunnel syndrome like you said! Again I'd speak to midwife or doctor though just to check.

    And welcome Vikki!

    Hi All!

I've been off work for the last week (holiday) so I've had loads of catching up to do - glad to see that everyone is generally well.

I'm 15+3 now, which is pretty scary, it's going really fast! It feels a bit odd though - I don't feel particularly pregnant any more as I don't feel dreadful, and am getting a pot belly, but that's about it. Weird.

Quick question (sexymouse, I think you had to deal with this?) - I think that DSS who was with us over the half term came down with Slapped Cheek while we had him. Clearly I'm in the highest risk category at the moment (because my pregnancies can't possibly be stress free *rolleyes*) so I should probably speak to someone about it... but who? I've not met my community midwife team yet, I won't till I'm about 17 weeks, so should I go to my GP?
  • Morning all!
Well mother just woke me up with a cuppa :) joked last night if she hadn't seen me by 11 give me shout. Was zonked!

Triangle hope scan goes well this am. Another chance to have a peek though :) Drs seem to like additional scans in my experience so far and have to say so do I.
Welcome punkpinkand congrats. I like the name and the spelling, unusual but not daft unusual
MissMonkeycan't remember if I posted the other day. I've babies r us coupons that I won't need. There's a tenner off £100 which runs out 31/8/12 which I could post to you? There's not a code as such it's a barcode I think for I store use. I love the Winnie the pooh stuff there too. Had sniffles a while back and was dreading having a cold or something rotten and my OH also said it was a pregnancy thing. Is there a website somewhere with all these odd things for OHs to know? Lol
Dizsie I think SPD can strike at anytime. I had bad hips before which were getting bad anyway so was hard to know really when it was SPD but I've been off work since 19 weeks and on crutches :(
Betty I would go and get it checked out. I think sometimes it can be a sign of high blood pressure.
Twinklie good luck at the drs. Hope you get some decent advice or something from them. I know they think you don't eat enough, is it worth trying a food diary so you can wave it under their nose and shout "yes I do eat for England you morons!!!!"
BB and Choclover sending lots of labour vibes to you both and the other ladies wanting them. Not you MrsManda though, I'll hold off until hubby returns ;)

Right I need to get going, put the Bol in the slow cooker for spag Bol tonight. Sold a few bits on eBay last not so need to venture out in the rain too :( few bits to do..... Might have another cuppa first though until I wake up some more.

    Happy (soggy) Monday all!

  • MrsBryan thank you - it is such a relief to know that I am not going insane! It's ridiculous how hungry I have been feeling, and I thought it was prob all normal preganancy symptoms but sometimes you just like to know that you are not alone! Lol! I did read this am that boys tend to have a growth spurt round week 26, and we think that's what we're having (only an inlking so could be wrong!) so that might explain it too! Will def discuss with the midwife though!

Rebekah the cotbed is gorgeous isn't it? I'm hoping that the stock is due in at the start of August rather than the end, otherwise we could be cutting it a bit fine! Fingers crossed!

Betty I remember reading something about swelling in pregnancy when it doesn't go down but I can't remember where I saw the info! Think it's one of those things that they recommend you get checked out though, just to be on the safe side. x
