actually just did the sums - the extra package i am entitled to will only be £975 extra over the year im on leave. the 39 weeks of SMP will be about £5265... hmmmm. need to mull this one over as im not telling work that im not going back just yet!
  • Wow ladies you've been busy chatting on here!
Firstly congratulations to Nora and Teerah on your little girlies.
Nora sounds a bit ouchie so thank you for not sharing too many details :o although it's too late for me to be put off now lol.

Thank you everyone for all the nice messages about my friend :)

I did read a little this am before heading into town. Fluffnutter I did wonder if you only had one pair of knickers there lol. But I went to Primark and got some cheapo granny pants. I'm normally size 14ish so got 16-18 so hope they'll be ok. I've still a while to go so won't try them just yet.
Triangle glad your BP has settled again. Hopefully it'll behave itself :)
MrsManda I know my friend is 3/5 engaged already with 4weeks to go. So I guess some babies are well in position before and others don't engage?
SM I saw some in Argos a while back. I also was looking for white furniture but again wasn't particularly wanting baby furniture. Not sure of the quality as it was on the website. I think it was Malibu, or I could have been craving Malibu to drink lol. It just looked nice. Anyway in the end I recycled some old furniture ;)
RJH glad your exam is over, I'm sure you've done enough
Missmonkeymoo hugs to you, sounds like you're having a rotten day. Some days I feel like I don't feel bubba much either but I don't really measure it so I dunno unless people keep a log. If I'm out and about I don't really notice too much, obviously if I'm lazing on the sofa I'm still enough to feel him lots. I'm now 52, was in low 50s/60s since joining I can see now I may also start going upwards  we're due close together OMG!!!
WW2B big hugs to you and the missus. Good luck for Tuesday, hope bubba can stay in for as long as poss. Better get the whip cracking on the in laws.
LittleMoog sounds like you're really organised! Hope DH gets on well at the dentist, sound painful :(
Twinklie hope your appt goes well tomorrow. Frustrating trying to get hold of some clinics etc. at least you've not had to wait long for an appointment. Like others have said, take a notebook with you with any questions or to write things down. That way you'll be able to tell OH, even so if you've your 28 week appointment soon after hopefully anything you forgot to ask or think about later you'll be able to ask relatively soon after. I wouldn't question the appt on the 15th just turn up :)
HBAC is this home birth after c-section?
Savage you're sounding brave going abroad, maybe I'm a chicken? Or I'm worried as "high risk" keeps being mentioned and also a language barrier might complicate things.

Went into town today, apart from granny pants not much exciting to report. Got a free shower on the way home, my mascara ran down my face so did look a bit panda like lol. Am very tired and achy now. Must get up and cook this rhubarb as promised the MIL a crumble for her OH. Going to her for dinner tonight so at least I don't have to make tea.

Well hope everyone has a good evening, has taken ages to type this so could be a lot more posts by now!
    Bye for now

Can't keep up with this thread so apologies if it's a repeat but I wanted to crosspost a deal on reusable nappies that was posted on MSE yesterday morning on the Grabbit thread (my favourite thread on this site!!).

Little Lamb washable nappies £50-£70 instead of ~£120

    Hi all,

Little Lamb have a starter nappy pack of 10 washable nappies heavily reduced via this link:

    http://www.littlelambnappies.com/mailer

There are 3 types, the most absorbent is the bamboo one but just read the info on their website as it is all there. We use the bamboo nappies and you have about 18 nappies for our 17 month old so I'd suggest 2 of these kits if you are serious, it's cheaper than 10 at the normal price anyway!!

    Thanks Gary123456790 for this deal.

Hello everyone! Long-time MSE'er, just occurred to me to look for a pregnancy thread and sure enough, here you all are! I'm fifteen weeks , due date 26/11/12 and VERY excited. Being big into money saving, I have so far done the following to save money:
1.) bought a bump belt for the car (for later) on Ebay for four quid instead of £25 brand new
2.) raided my sister-in-law's cupboards and come away with three MASSIVE bags of newborn clothes, two moses baskets and a car seat all for nothing.
However, since the house we are currently in is not suitable for a baby due to having no working heating (well it does work, but the two options are icy cold or boiling hot) we are having to do up the house to sell it, and that ain't cheap!

    Norabatty and Teerah - contgratulations!

Norabatty, your labour description brought tears to my eyes (and I'm normally not very teary, not even when pregnant). I just started imagining all things that can go wrong with my labour and got terrified. I'm glad you said you'd do it all over again - that cheered me up a bit.

SavageHK - I am 35 weeks today and struggle to sit on the bus to work for an hour - after 45 mins have bad pains in my bottom and keep wiggling on the seat! I definitely wouldn't manage a 24hr train journey. I'm also not a fan of toilets on trains and you may need to use those a lot. Although all my pregnancy pains and discomforts started at exactly 34wks so if you go at the beginning of October you may be fine.

Nothing else to report today. Labour vibes to those who want them and non-labour vibes to those who don't. Good luck with appointments.

25 week midwife appointment tomorrow morning. I must make sure I remember to take the urine sample with me, as it's an early appointment (9.20am). Then we've got to rush around like mad things to Moon's work to give notice of his paternity leave as we'll finally have the MATB1 form, go to the jewellers as the insurance money has finally come through for Moon's lost wedding ring so we can approach the shop to see if they have it in stock, then home to make copies of the form, write my letter to my employers, and then go to the post office to send the form to them by recorded delivery with an accompanying letter about my maternity leave (got to be sent to Glasgow, and I don't trust them not to loose the form as they do a good job of not always sending my payslips to me).
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

    Congrats Nora and Teerah!

    Welcome missbunbury.

Had my 26 week midwife appointment this morning. Was quite interesting. Everything fine and I am measuring within the normal range so that was a relief. It was a different midwife to the one I normally see. I told her that I had been told I couldn’t have a physio referral for SPD before 28 weeks and she basically said that was a load of rubbish, that of course I could be seen and in fact the earlier the better. She gave me a referral form and I rang the hospital who promptly booked me in for an SPD class on Tuesday. I’m chuffed about that but really annoyed that both my usual midwife and my GP had insisted that there was no way I could be seen before 28 weeks due to “hospital policy”. It seems that actually I could have gone weeks ago.

Then when I got home I decided to have a look through my notes (probably should have done this before my appointment) and noticed that it says in there that I should have another blood sugar test at 26 weeks (this week) and routine bloods at 28 weeks. Today’s midwife didn’t mention any of this and didn’t give me the forms you need for blood tests (we have to go to the local hospital for bloods), she just said to book another appointment in four weeks time. So I’m going to have to try and get in contact with the community midwives office tomorrow to see if I need to arrange blood tests or not. Frustrating!

    Quick question.

My baby is due 4th October, and at the minute the plan is to work until 28th Sep. My holiday runs Jan-Dec, and by 28th Sep I think I will have around 10 days holiday left. Can I take these 10 days from 28th Sep onwards and THEN start maternity leave mid October even though the baby may be born during the 'holiday' rather than during the maternity leave. Is that clear?!? #BabyBrain
