If you are worried just don't tell them you are booked in and act naive then go along next week as well.
I would assume that you would be seen separately especially as you are seeing the consultant. I have had scans 2 days in a row without any problem one was a reassurance scan due to food poisoning and the next was my normal appointment with the consultant.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Anyone know if you can decline Enhanced maternity pay and ask for only SMP? Enhanced will put me at £400 down!
You can decline it however you shouldn't be down pay because of it. Enhanced should always be above SMP.
I think the only reason to decline it is if you aren't planning on returning to work after and would have to pay it back anyway.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Yeah it's been booked since 16 weeks.
Erm, what is enhanced mat pay?
Some nice companies will give additional pay on top of SMP. For example some will give full pay until 6months and then SMP for 3 months etc. However if you don't go back for a minimum length of time (which will be in your contract) you may need to pay the additional payments back.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Yeah it's been booked since 16 weeks.
Erm, what is enhanced mat pay?
It is what the company you work for have decided they will pay employees over and above SMP. Often it comes with stipulations like you must return after mat leave for x number of months.
Rebekah as the others have said, you can turn it down but it should be higher than SMP

im glad this subject came up!
my contract (which was merged and then TUPE'd) gives me the first 15 weeks at what they call OMP (ordinary maternity pay) then onto SMP. nothing about it in my contract, it was brought to my attention during the TUPE in April this year, and nothing about having to pay it back - any thoughts? is it standard to have to pay back anything over and above SMP?0 -
Many many congratulations to Teerah :happyhear Hope you are both doing well xxMFW!

Not sure MummyofTwo I have never worked for a company that give employees more than the legal minimum.
When you tell your employers they have to give you all the information within 28 days so that you can work out your plans.Overdraft = £1000 Emergency fund = £2500

Not standard, no. But your company might impose conditions regarding returning to work. For example, they might ask you to repay anything they've given if you decide not to return, or return and immediately hand in your notice.
They can't ask for SMP back."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
