Ooh, Exciting times, Turltlemoose. Good luck!

Thanks to all last night who gave some good advice.:)
I notice many due around the same day or week:p
Phoned the community midwife number for my area and basically left another message to be seen at an evening clinic they do on Thursdays at the mat unit...just have to wait and see if they call back. Haven't had bloods taken or urine for a while.

Why is no-one ever on the end of a phone when you need them?

Anyway, labour vibes to all and massive congrats to everyone who has had little bundles over the last year...I have only been an avid lurker of the birth list this time.:o Sad but true.

I cannot sit still - feel really agitated and brimming with anticipation - and im probably getting all worked up over nothing :rotfl:

Right I'm off to do the washing, put some bits in the cellar, and Hoover downstairs.

Soooooo excited that I might get to meet my baby this weekend, would be lovely for my SS (7) too as he was most disappointed when he arrived here Friday to find his little brother or sister isn't here yet!! :)
  • Morning all!
Turtlemoose I hope things get going for you, how exciting!! I'm excited for you! Any other signs? Quick jump on OH whilst munching pineapple ;)
RJH hope you feel better this morning. Glad nothing serious, hope you're able to rest over the weekend.
SM I've been getting pain like at the bottom of the of my fit shoulder blade and at the bottom of the front right ribs if that makes sense? I put it down to strain from the crutches at first but I don't think it is anymore. A nice massage on the back from OH helps. I use an anti inflammatory gel on the back too, my GP says its ok to use as I've used it for years but use a small amount now. I don't know if deep heat or similar are safe in pregnancy though, or maybe just a massage with baby oil or similar wold relax it a bit?
Lady legs hope you get a reply from them. Do they have an assessment unit at your local hospital? To be honest if you get too worried and get nowhere it may be worth going to A&E as at least they might give you the once over or be able to arrange you to see a obs dr or midwife. I know it's not what it's there for, but like you've said it's a bank holiday weekend so it's a look wait until Wednesday for services to be open again.
Emsbet hope you have a good time at the wedding
Triangle your bump is looking lovely :) please send some sun here, is looking very grey and chilly outside :(

I had a rubbish night, the cat doing "baby massage" every five minutes and being very snuggle. I think she slept on me throughout the whole night which is unusual, then I needed a wee, then it was heartburn, then I between my hips popped and I was stuck.....the usual preggers rough night lol. Lucky I slept from seven till half 10. Got way too much to do.
Taking mum (or mum is taking me- miss hop-a- along) into town, then got a bday dinner for a good friend. Then going into London tomorrow as MIL has a boat on the Thames for jubilee river thing. If we get there, sounds like it could be a disastrous journey as lots of bits and bridges are closed lol. Then we've got to climb literally onto the boat via a plank....could be an interesting video of me on YouTube haha.

Hope everyone has a great weekend :) xxxx

Critical point number one: my wife is a solicitor, so was her employer. He is representing himself and has no costs to run up.

Critical point number two: we have instructed solicitors, racked up bills, and the ex employer is digging heels in and saying he did nothing wrong.

We have already filed for an employment tribunal, he's responded to our claims and said that he's done nothing wrong and sees no reason why we have any claim against him...

Maybe if we ask for the appeal meeting, the penny will drop as to why we think he has not followed the ACAS code...

Not a solicitor myself, so won't pretend to know more than your wife on this one!! But all of my siblings/partners are solicitors and they have all dealt with their fair share of oddball solicitors, who invariably work in small practices, employ one other solicitor and/or apprentice and then make their lives a living hell by making impossible demands. One of them even refused to accept a resignation letter and thought by doing so he could force a relative to stay on for an extra few months so he could go on holidays?? She had another job to go to as well but he just wasn't accepting it. :rotfl:

So stick with the process and I'm sure it will be worth it!

Thanks everyone for the due date wishes. Got more period type pains last night but slept really well and they are gone again this morning/afternoon. TMI alert, also went to the toilet, ALOT, yesterday so think my system which was rather full (I've been on 2 iron tablets per day for anaemia since 29 weeks), is now at least 50% empty. Would love for the baby to turn up over the long weekend so DH can take the 3 extra days as annual leave and have 3 weeks with baby as opposed to 2, but we will have to see. I suspect I may be going for a sweep on Wednesday morning as scheduled.

By the way, found best maternity clothes for lasting 6+months to be New Look, Next and Red Herring from Debenhams. Bought stuff from GAP which wasn't cheap and looked bobbly/got random holes in no time at all. That said, I have lived in a pair of over the bump GAP maternity skinny jeans for the last 6 months and I love them. Next stuff was averagely priced and lasts, although their trousers/jeans are forever falling down because they sit under the bump. Next tops are good value and quality. New Look and Red Herring stuff were both cheap and have lasted well, although I only got tops and leggings from both - no trousers so don't know how they would work out. H&M stuff was also cheap, over the bump trousers were great for work up until 5-6 months but the bump bit then sat across the bump as opposed to over or under the bump and was very visible under tops. Tops looked nice but didn't think the quality was that good. Absolute winners for me were New Look and Red Herring - cheap, nice to look at and lasted well. Never got the bump bands, although I doubt they would have lasted me too long. I started wearing maternity trousers/jeans at 9 weeks and moved into maternity tops around 12-14 weeks. Did manage to wear normal sized hoodies until 6 months though which was handy.

    Eeeeee turtlemoose, how exciting! :)

Emsbet, my twinges have calmed down a lot since the other day. I'm still getting frequent braxton hicks, but not accompanied by the sharp pains. I think to be honest I was just over doing things that day, putting shelves up etc.

I'm having a fun day arranging all my things in their new homes :)

OK, a dumb bump question. I'm pretty petite and usually like my clothes fairly tight fitting. While most of my tops are stretchy and can allow for a bit of 'bump' growth, I'm starting to struggle with my trousers/jeans/etc. In fact, most of them are now only comfy if I leave both button and zip undone! If I get one of those bump bands, are they tight enough that my trousers won't fall down?? Or do I need to get inventive with a hair-elastic around my buttonhole as well just in case? Also, any recommendations for online maternity shops welcome. I think I like the Isabella Oliver style but I don't usually like wearing synthetic materials at the best of times and she is a bit pricey!

PS: currently 15 weeks and a size 8!

I found that I could only really shop in Next as they do petite online (I'm petite and size 6 so really struggled to get any clothes). From about 8 weeks I was doing the whole elastic band thing as I couldn't stand anything tight or touching my stomach which meant gone were the jeggings and leggings. I found mamas & papas petite sizes to be huge as well as New look maternity - DH told me I looked like I was wearing a sack when I tried on a top in NL. I've ended up with a pair of linen trousers, pair of jeans (Next) and a pair of leggings and shorts I bought in the States (Next started at size 8 and were far too big). Up until recently I couldn't stand wearing clothes (even underwear) but and so picked everything which either had a narrow waistband or a hidden support.

    Good luck

Well yesterday I had a productive shopping trip and just thought I would pop on here to ask a couple of questions.

As Toysrus have the whole 20% off I ended up getting the duo airflow spring cotbed mattress as it was already reduced and wondered if anyone has any experience of this product - is it any good or are there better ones out there. First baby so being a bit of a worry wart as I feel slightly clueless.

I also picked up the Tommee tippee electric pump (udder milker as I like to call it) as it was reduced to £66 and again wondered if anyone has any experience of it? I've looked online and most of the reviews are 2010 so just wondering if any of the issues people had have been resolved so to speak. Also picked up some anti colic bottles which had 4 extra teats and extras reduced to £12 if anyone is looking for some - my DH wants to take part in night feeds and "bonding" with the baby.

We were also able to use one of our money off coupons at the same time as using the 20% off. If you dont have any there seem to be £5 off vouchers in the babiesRus product booklet instore.

    Jo
