I hope you're managed to get back to sleep again rj - Moon has just surfaced early too, so don't know if he's intending to stay up now. He's doing something downstairs, so will go and investigate in a minute as my tummy is growling as I've been awake so long now.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Well I've just had some cocoa pops and I'm heading back to bed - Moon has decided he's staying up now, and I think the cat has gone out as well. Oh well, will just have to snuggle on my own.

This pain is keeping me awake. It's like a deep buried ache just below my pubic line with occasional stabbing pain. Can't decide wether to call someone or not

Can't advise on the stabbing pain beyond saying the usual, if you are worries, call someone. Always better to be save than sorry.

That said I'm feeling sorry for myself. Diawoo woo before bed, kept waking up with an uphappy tummy and diawoo woo when I got up. I'm not at all a happy bunny. :( Feeling tired and miserable....and too hot.

I've had a stabbing pain where my pubic bone is and I've just put it down to stretching. If you're worried I'd give the midwife a call.

With a first baby is he always engaged before labour and does labour always come after a 'show' and waters breaking?
Just thinking if a 'show' is almost 100% likely to turn up first then labour is hardly likely to be imminent and I should be finding ways of stopping thinking about it.

Not all ladies waters will break to signify the start of labour and not all women will have a show.

Some ladies will have no idea at all and then contractions will start.

With me, I had a small show and then a trickle, which I now think were my hind waters. I had very mild cramping the rest of that day and then the next day had a more bloody show and proper contractions started that night. Babies head wasn't engaged at all with me!

A show can happen up to 2 weeks before anything happens, or it could be a few hours. Everyones different, so it's really hard to tell. Hope that helps slightly even if it's not very helpful :( x

Edit: My waters were broken in hospital by the midwife, so that can happen too and I'd been in labour a long time before they done that xx

With my first, I didn't have a show, the contractions started just after I had dinner and my waters broke on my way out the door to the hospital and DD was born 15 mins after arriving at the hospital!

I have a questions for the experienced.
What do I actually need for both the hospital and for at home post birth - just for me? I'm ignoring the big lists because they have stuff on them that usually isn't necessary. I'm not talking entertainment or clothes, I'm talking more basic needs. Also, recommendations of make of any products suggested would be wonderful. I'm sure it's probably been mentioned on one of these pregnancy threads a million times, but I don't have the energy to search for it.
