well I've had a traumatic 30 hours or so..... here's the story.... midwife came at 10.30 and did a membrane sweep, my waters went on the bed  she said to call her when contractions were every ten minutes. Dan went to the shop... within 30 mins the contractions were coming every 7 mins so got her back and dan filled the pool. I gripped onto my living room door like a loon trying to breath through the pains... Then came the gas and air, i like it but NOT the scooby doo effect as i call it. I could hear what people were saying but on a time delay so i could predict the future and was laughing at everyone
anyway i got in the pool with my gas and air 5-6 cm dilated. and then got urges to push.. was told to hang on,, but the urge got stronger. in all i was in labour for 3 hours and Mabel Lucy-Rose was born at 15.45 and was 8lbs 4oz. All was fine she was born into the water and she's perfect. I then got out the pool to deliver the placenta. it was intact and they manovered me to the couch to sit and breastfeed. my dd's came with my dad for cuddles and stayed for ten mins.. then dan got cuddles with Mabel. and then it all went wrong I hemoraged and was blues and twosd to the hospital (after fainting in the house thinking i was dying) i was told i had to go in cos i could have died. i was put on delivery suit and monitored. soent 24 hours in there and the staff were lovley and helpful and couldnt have asked for better care. they let me have my own room and were lovely. my iron count is v. low 7.8 if i faint anymore ive got to go back for a transfusion. but we are all home and doing well now. will post more when i get a chance. xxxxxx

Missus aka the sickness and exhaustion passes Hun. The first trimester is horrible but it will pass. Maybe buy in some ready meals, jellys etc so when you feel like eating you can grab something. Or get someone else to cook for you xYou never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Missus, try keeping mints around - sucking a mint was the only way I could stop feeling nauseous for awhile. I kept cereal bars and bananas around so that I could quickly get something. It does pass, make sure you keep up your fluid intake so you don't get dehydrated especially in this weather. If you feel you are getting too worn down and sleepy it's worth speaking to your midwife so you can get your iron levels checked.
I had another hospital trip today as I feel like I'm leaking fluid. I just wanted to check that it was normal - it's only a tiny amount but because I had GBS the hospital wanted to check that my waters hadn't started to break as that put me on a strict timetable for labour. Fortunately was only there for an hour - I'm fine, baby's fine and they've sent the fluid off for a test but don't think my waters broke because there wasn't any obvious fluid around the cervix.
I'm sure once I'm actually in labour and my waters break it'll be obvious but I'm a little paranoid.
With a first baby is he always engaged before labour and does labour always come after a 'show' and waters breaking?
Just thinking if a 'show' is almost 100% likely to turn up first then labour is hardly likely to be imminent and I should be finding ways of stopping thinking about it.0 -
Wow it's quiet on here today!
Missus it does get better. Is this your first? Well it's my first and between 7-8 weeks and 14ish weeks I felt the same. I did force myself to eat, but vomited quite a lot but I still tried to eat. I was exhausted, sleeping even more than usual. I used to nap beforehand, but often had an afternoon nap depending on shifts. Sometimes eating small bits does help nausea, I kept crackers by my bed. I'm not a fan of ginger biscuits but I had quite a few in the early days. My friend said to keep "full fat" pop by my bed to sip in the night, trying to maintain some blood sugar level. As Ikkle said mints are great, or any boiled sweets really I found. my early days lifesaver especially on an early shift was a can of full fat coke. Boasted me right up, I couldn't tolerate much tea then  I know not very nutritional and many colleagues gave me stick about it. But whatever gets you through the early days just go with it. If I cold have stayed in bed like a dying duck it may have been fine, but I had to use whatever is could to remain functional. That's a long ramble lol, heat has fried my brain!
MrsManda glad the hospital went ok, must be a worry as the schedule is tight. No idea on the show etc really, only what I've read on here.
Hi to everyone else. Hope everyone is ok. Seems a lot cooler now than previous nights so hopefully will mean more sleep. Good night everyone xx:j Baby boy arrived 22nd August 2012 :j

Hi everyone, hope you are all well despite the heat. :A
I'm 25 weeks now & have felt the baby move loads the last few days so I think he is moving into the head down position.
I'm not doing very well with my monitoring my blood sugar levels though & keep forgetting.I'm going to try to start properly again Monday as I need to start taking my insulin too.
I know it's important but my brain is like mushy peas atm & I can't concentrate or remember anything.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

I'm up at stupid o'clock as I'm roasting hot - we were going to have the bedroom window open last night, but as soon as we got into bed, a mosquito came in, so we had to close it again and Moon had to catch the mosquito before it bit me. Have just been researching those mosquito nets you can get to stick on your windows. Anyone used one before? Looked into airconditioning units too, but think they're a bit too expensive.
Bean is awake and kicking me too, and it's starting to get light outside. The dawn chorus started at around 3am. I'm hoping that the weather today will be a bit cooler, and I may be able to sneak in a daytime nap to make up for my being awake now.
Hugs to anyone who needs or wants them.
