Would you buy house number 13?

We lived in number 13 for almost 20 years and it never crossed my mind once not to move to it.
It wasn't unlucky - number 16 across the street was far more "unlucky" with 2 marriages breaking up- number 11 also saw a marriage break up, number 17 had a still birth last year - but number 13 - no.
No one got hurt, died, burgled, no pets got killed, nothing - just a normal house, happy family home.
We had no trouble selling it either - we've moved to a different part of the country and have been moved about 4 months I don't know how the new owners are getting on. OK I imagine.0 -
We are FTB, really liked a house. Only thing that is making us a bit reluctant to go ahead is that house number is 13. Want to know what others think about number 13?
Probably, but I'd have to offer 25% below the asking price.1. The house price crash will begin.
2. There will be a dead cat bounce.
3. The second leg down will commence.
4. I will buy your house for a song.0 -
My Mum would not buy a number 13, but she is into all the superstitious mumbo jumbo. Never had any problems with the number 13 in any shape or form so I would buy.Grab life by the balls before it grabs you by the neck.0

I lived at No 13. Was one of the luckiest properties I've owned. Loved it. Made 50% on that in I think less than 3 years in the '90s! Mind you, did sell it to buy a house with first hubby. We're now divorced...! I put that down to the next house being unlucky though lol!
I quite liked being at no 13. Made me smile.

X11V would be viewed as a name, anyway.........you still have to display the proper number. A property isn't a clock....
Is it law to display the number? I have owned two houses and neither had the number displayed anywhere. Many of my neighbours do not have numbers on their doors. I honestly did not know 'you stil have to display the proper number' that is news to me. No sarcasm, just really wondered if you have to display it and who enforces this rule.
Nothing to do with the number 13 (which is a stupid reason to not buy a house) so sorry for the derail even though its related.

I would. Its considered unlucky by some, and lucky by others. Superstition, and contradiction:

I have never heard of it being known as a mortuary!
I'm not sure anyone really knows the true origin. Something about roses being planted around a mortuary to screen it, or an actual Rose Cottage being used as one. Anyway it's widely used and sound nicer for staff and relatives.
So, I'd definately change the name if I lived In Rose Cottage. But then, no one in Rose Cottage lives!0 -

My mum & dad's house was built in about the 1950s and has never had a number, only a name. They've always told me it was because the council said there might be more houses built along their road, so they weren't going to number them (there are probably about 40 or so properties there now, so I have no idea how delivery men cope). That all went along quite happily until a group of new houses was built at the end of the road about ten years ago, and one of the new residents for some reason decided to give his house the same name as my mum & dad's.
According to the official Land Registry site and Post Office, a person cannot officially name their house the same as another one in the same road.....0
