I think you may not understand that "Rose Cottage" is a euphemism in a well known, huge organisation.
Feel free to explain :AI'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -

Yes, besides looking thoroughly ridiculous and pretentious (rather like those lion heads you sometimes see on the gate of a tiny little terrace with a tiny little front - in a shabby street...) it's highly CONDASCENDING to assume most people wouldn't understand what Roman numerals were!! And to write them wrongly to try to make them look even more 'impressive' (according to Owain Moneysaver:rotfl:) smacks even more of 'Hyacinth Bouquet Syndrome'.0 -
We are FTB, really liked a house. Only thing that is making us a bit reluctant to go ahead is that house number is 13. Want to know what others think about number 13?
Doesn't bother me. I bought number 13. Didn't bother me when I bought it, never crossed my mind. It was the house I wanted not the house number. When someone asked me was I bothered about the number I had to ask them why I would be as it didn't even cross my mind then.
It is just a number after all. Did you jump from 12 years old to 14 years old? Stay locked in your room for a year when you were 13?
Forgot to say, as this house has been here over 110 years, I'm pretty sure the other people who bought it weren't bothered either.0 -

Rose Cottage is actually the second most popular house name in the UK!

I have never heard of it being known as a mortuary!0 -
My mum & dad's house was built in about the 1950s and has never had a number, only a name. They've always told me it was because the council said there might be more houses built along their road, so they weren't going to number them (there are probably about 40 or so properties there now, so I have no idea how delivery men cope). That all went along quite happily until a group of new houses was built at the end of the road about ten years ago, and one of the new residents for some reason decided to give his house the same name as my mum & dad's.0

The number 13 in our street has been very unlucky.
The first owners of the newly built house - Husband accidentally ran over and killed one of their two dogs. The wife was hysterical with grief - they had no children, so they felt about them like they were their children.
Second owners - Marriage broke down - so they sold.
Third owners - Marriage broke down - so they sold.
Fourth owners - I'm still waiting for....0
